Reading Challenge
Well if you have read my most recent page, I am starting a reading challenge for myself. 50 books by June 1st. It’ll be extremely difficult to accomplish without the help of others. If you could please recommend books to me and check out my blog often, I will be doing more on the Reading Challenge later on. So far I have read 1 out of 50 books. Check out the Reading Challenge page for a review of the book.

“When Spain came along, things went all wrong, Britain got strong.”
I was thinking and found this video to use in this…
Monroe Doctrine based upon John Quincy Adams’ foreign policy.
It divided the world in two For the Western and Eastern Americas Great Britain
December 2nd, James Monroe gave this message to all of Congress.
Don’t consider us anymore for the future colonization of any nation.
Now at first, this did not impress. And yet they still, tried their very best, not to interfere with our hemisphere.
And instead, kept to their own, who to the throne? Just stay alone…
And why, you may ask of us, did we want them away from us?
We’ll tell you why it is just because: When Spain came along, things went all wrong, Britain got strong.
And we were afraid that there’d be another war.
Then John Quincy said that we should just stay away, just stay away, just stay away, just stay away.
Monroe Doctrine based upon John Quincy Adams’ foreign policy
It divided the world in two for the future of freedom of freedom of freedom of freedom for all
Well that was awkward… Anyways the Monroe Doctrine was based upon as the song said, the United States being afraid that the British would attack them again. Makes sense to be afraid of the biggest threat you had. James Monroe said to the British that if America would stay out of the European business, then the Europeans wouldn’t colonize in the New World. It later was used to inform the Old World that the America’s were no longer part of Europe.

His Childhood was Ended…
After Andrew Jackson’s inauguration, he had the party that the presidents always held at the white house. But instead of inviting a few people, he invited all of Washington D.C. You would see blacks, children, women, men, and every person who lived in Washington, if you could come, they said come on in. I think that he had done this because of his childhood. He grew up unlike what most of us are going through. His father died shortly before he was born and he grew up with his widowed mother and older brother and sister. His childhood was ended by the Revolutionary War, and also wiped out the remaining immediate family of his. He then fought as an American irregular. In those times, fighting in the Carolina backcountry was dangerous. After this and a little more conflicts he became president of the United States. Until we started this project I knew barely anything about him and his past.

Hold Your Dream – Naturi Naughton, Asher Book, and Kay Panabaker
Well I have been thinking deeply about this school year. This is when we form our lives. It has to be the best, the kind of person we are leaving 8th grade, is the kind of person we will be when we grow up. When we leave, we have to hold our dreams so that we can succeed in life. “There are some things success is not, its not fame its not money or power. Success is, waking up in the morning so excited about what you have to do, that you literally fly out the door.” – Kay Panabaker, Fame(2009).
Success is many things, different to each person. Comment with what success means to you.
All People are Equal…
Have you ever heard the saying “Don’t judge a book by its cover”? Well if you have ever actually thought of it in depth, what do you think it means? I have always thought that it meant that you shouldn’t judge people by how they look. After today’s lesson I found that it is totally different from what I thought it meant. Now, to me, it means that you shouldn’t judge a person from how they look or how they act but what they intend to do. If you walked up to a person and found him or her smoking a cigarette and talking with people who look like gansters what would you say? Would you just walk away saying what an idiot or would you walk away saying why would he mix with those people? Its a common question to be asked but no one knows why it happens. If you were in a library and you were choosing a book to read, what kind of book would you take? The cover with nothing on it or the cover with a lot of pictures and action? If the cover with nothing on it had a much better story-line than the book with the cover filled with pictures and action would you still take the book with the cooler cover? This is my point, people judge others by how they look and act, but never what they intend in life. Some people like Martin Luther King Jr didn’t mean any harm to the United States, but yet he was shot because he wanted to change something about the United States. Lives can be changed from what people think of you and by what they say about you, if you want someone to treat you with respect, you must treat them with respect. All people are equal, just they look different and act differently.
