Intentions vs. Actions…hmm

How would you judge someone? By their intentions? Or how about their actions?

After taking some time to think about it, I think I would judge someone on their intentions because what they really meant to do can be completely different from what their action was. I know that probably made no senseto you so I’ll try to explain better. Lets say you bought your best friend a really expensive pair of sunglasses that you’ve been saving up to buy her for months, then she sells the sunglasses and uses the money to buy concert tickets to your favorite band. I’ll bet you’d be a little mad that she had sold the sunglasses that you had spent so much time trying to get for her and she used them to buy concert tickets. You’d probably think of her as a bad friend after doing that, huh?  But think about it from her point of view… she had sold the sunglasses to buy tickets to YOUR favorite band so the two of you could spend time together and listen to all of YOUR favorite songs. Your friend only did what he/she did so they could spend some time with you thinking that you’d like to go your favorite band’s concert. Your friends intention wasn’t bad at all. She/he was just trying to give you something they thought you would want.

Personally, I think we should judge on intentions and not on actions, but everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

I could see what you mean; but if you think about it again. She’s technicaly using your money because she sold the sunglasses that you bought. Better yet, to make matters easier, you could have just bought the concert tickets and no one would be mad at each other(; Either way, this is an interesting post, it shows what you think of matters from your own point of view.
