This week we will be signing up for the wiki and creating your homepage. You will also be creating your blogs, customizing them, and putting up you first post.

Tuesday-

Click on the sign-up link in the blogroll and sign-up for your blog.  It is very important that you follow the directions for what username to use, and what email to use.  After you get the URL for your blog sign-up for the *blogging challenge.  Wednesday I will give you the password and we will start working on the blog.

After signing up for the challege,  go to our *wiki and click on “Join” in the upper right corner.  Use the same username as the blog sign-up, create your own password, and use the same email address as the blog sign-up.  After you click “join” write your username and password down and hand them to me.  Go back to our *wiki and click “join this wiki” on the left side.  Tell me when you finish the process, and I will accept you as a member.  After everyone is signed up we will start on your homepages.

Wednesday-

  1. Figure out how to send wiki mail and send me one!
  2. Talk about copyright issues, and *creative commons images.
  3. Figure out how to put an image onto your wiki page
  4. Figure out out to make a hyperlink
  5. Work on wiki homepage
  6. Get blog password, log-in and change password
  7. Get quick tour of dashboard for your blog

Thursday-

  1. Period 1 only–sign-up for the blogging challenge
  2. In class-we will look at your blog’s Dashboard, and learn how to leave a comment
  3. log-in to your blog by going to moranmustangs.org/username/wp-admin
  4. click on settings(left side bottom), edit blog title, tagline, time zone, SAVE
  5. click on users, click on your name, fill in first name, at bottom fill in password-same as wiki, click update
  6. click appearance, choose theme with at least one side-bar (DO NOT SPEND MORE THAN 5 MINUTES HERE!)
  7. click posts, click box next to “Hello World” and delete
  8. Still under posts click “add new,”  Write a post entitled about what the perfect classroom looks like to you.
  9. Do activity #1 for the Blogging competition (blocked click here) Click on Pages, then “About” and follow direction from activity #1
  10. Find one blog from a student in the blogging competition and leave a comments
  11. If time remains finish your wiki homepage or check out some blogs from last year!

Reminder that first post and wiki home page are due on Monday

Friday-

Today is the anniversary of “9/11.”  For many of you it is a distant vague memory.  If you would like to listen to a summary of the what happened on 9/11 and its aftermath you can listen to this five minute video before finishing your wiki page and blog.

You are free to do any work on your blog or wiki home page.  Remember that Monday you will share your homepage with the rest of the class.  All requirements must be met to receive credit.
