Textbooks…? Are they reliable?

In my Social Studies school textbook it tells us about Tecumseh and how he was a very talented Indian leader ans a skilled warrior, but they don’t really give you that much information about him. like if someone was to write a report on Tecumseh the textbook would not be the best choice to use. I would have probably would have used the Internet because it tels you a lot more information about him. Some information that I found on the Internet about Tecumseh is he was a father to 20 children and had 3 wives, he was born in 1786, he lost an eye in a hunting accident. These facts are some of the things that should be in the textbook that was left out. I do not think the book did a good job describing Tecumseh, they should have used more details. If they added these facts then it would make it more interesting to kids in the middle school. These are just some things that I would have done if I was the book editor.

FALSE!!!

Mason Locke Weems is the author of “Life of George Washington; with Curious Anecdotes, Equally Honorable to Himself, and Exemplary to His Young Countrymen” which is a biography of George Washington. Maon Locke Weems wrote this book not to tell a story of George Washington Chopping down his Father’s Cherry tree but to show his honesty.

U.S. Navy Ships

I am going to compare and contrast one of the original six ships and a modern U.S. Navy ships. So I picked the USS Constellation and the USS Port Royal. The USS Constellation was the first Navy ship to set sail. It first set sail in 1797 and was decommissioned in 1853 and it was the first to destroy an enemy ship. It was armed with 20 cannons and 28 long guns. The USS Constellation was 164 feet and weighed 1265 tons. The USS Port Royal is 567 feet and weighed 9600 tons.  It carries many  automatic cannon, automatic turrents, and many torpedo launchers.

……we didn’t have any electricity. Then in the winter everyone would be a lot colder because they didn’t have as good heating as they would have now. We wouldn’t have refrigeration, or a god waty to cook food cause you wouldn’t have a stove or oven or microwave. Everything would be a lot harder if we didn’t have elecricity.

Loose v.s. Strict

Personally I believe in a loose construction in the Constitution. If you had a loose constitution then you could do anything you want to as long as it is reasonable. Just because you had a loose constitution doesn’t mean that you could  go out and steal a car. If you did that you would still get in a lot of trouble. The ”elastic clause” is a statement in the U.S. Constitution that grants congress the power to pass laws that are proper and necessary.

would you have followed George Washington across the Delaware?

If I was in the Revolutionary War and I was in one of George Washington’s troop then I probably not follow him across the Delaware river. I wouldn’t because I would be too scared of dying and im a really brave person.

For Challenge 4 we had to find 3 blog’s that were not from our school. So the blogs that I picked was Heather’s blog, Lindsay’s blog, and Anne’s blog. I liked Anne’s blog because  I liked how she told people that they should visit Niagara Falls which I really would like to go and see one day. I liked Linsay and Heather’s blog’s because they both talked about how people should visit Hershey Park and I have always wanted to take a vacation to Pennsylvania to go there. So you should check out these blog’s. Maybe you will like the things they write about too! :)

5 Analogies of my life :)

1)Gymnastics after a long day is like just waking up and having to run 5 miles.

2)Waking up every morning is like taking test. I hate waking up and I hate taking test.

3)Doing my homework is boring as gymnastics is to fun.

4)Alarm clock is to annoying as the snooze button is to getting more sleep. When I hit the snooze button it sets the alarm clock to go off in another 10 minutes.

5)My house is like a nice breezy day because it is just the right temperature.

Blogging Challenge #3- Where to go when visiting Connecticut?

There are a lot of places and attraction to see when you visit Connecticut. One of them that I really like going to is the Farmington Valley river tubing. It is when you get a tube and you just float in your tube down the river, it’s good because you can talk to your friends or just relax as you go down the river. I really like it, maybe one day you can go and do it too. Another place that I like to visit is the Mystic Aquarium. It is a great place to go with your family for the day. You can see all the different aquatic animals that live in the ocean. so after all there are many places and attraction to see when you visit Connecticut.

American Revolution- Shot heard round the world….

In our class we have been working with analogies. So for one of our homework we had to make analogies for a bunch of things that are related to the Revolutionary War(Revolutionary War Analogies). One of them that we had to make an analogy for was the shot heard round the world. So mine was: The Shot Heard Round the World is to the start of the war as the gunshot at a track meet starts the race. The shot heard round the world was the thing that started the revolutionary war and that is why I related it to when they shot the gun a track meet that starts the race.
