to follow or not to follow?

Hmmmm…. would I follow George Washington across the Delaware River? Well… yes i think I would because if they hadn’t gone over to attack the Hessians then the Hessians would have come over and attacked them and I think that they thought they would die either way because they didn’t really think they would defeat them but, the Hessians were caught off guard and had no choice but to surrender. I think they were really brave to do that when they were very out numbered and were close to dying before they even crossed the river. A time  that I chose not to follow  someone was a couple years ago when a friend wanted to cheat on a test but, I wouldn’t because I don’t think that is right and because a test is to see how much you learned its not fair if you don’t actually know what you are writing down and getting a better grade than you deserve. I think it was a good decision not to cheat because I ended up getting a good grade based on what I actually knew!!!

Everyone can see…

I think it is fine to post pictures of your self as long as you are being safe with it. Also I think that anyone who is posting picture of yourself whether it be on a blog, Facebook, myspace etc. that even if your profile is set on private that anyone if they know how can access them so be careful what you post online. You should online post pictures of your friends and family if you know that they won’t mind that you are. All I am saying is be safe when posting pictures and know the consequences before you do it.

Paint brushes, pencils, sketchbooks, oh my!

When I was young my dad had an art studio and he is a really good artist! Currently we have an art room in my house where me and my sister go to draw or paint we also use that room for doing projects for school. My dad and sister have taught me many things and I’ve gotten really good at it over the years. I like to do oil paintings, I have done many because I take a painting class. I like to paint beaches and scenes with lots of plants and flowers, I am currently painting a picture of Warwick Castle in England and it has a bunch of really beautiful flowers in it! I like to give away my paintings to like my family members. I like painting a lot more than drawing it is just a lot easier and enjoy it more!

Everything I was looking for=)

When I was looking through all of the different themes I was looking for something like bright and with colors that I really liked, and lime green just happens to be one of my favorite colors! I also really wanted one that i could put my own picture in at the top because I had  a great idea of rotating a picture of the Eiffel Tower that I took on my trip to Paris and I think that it looks really cool!! I think it was pretty difficult to choose a theme because there were so many that I really liked but I think I am content with what I have now even though I will most likely change the theme every once in awhile.

Do you know Alexander Hamilton?

You might know that Alexander Hamilton was the personal assistant to General George Washington during the American Revolutionary War but, do you know how he grew up or what kind of education he got? Well, he was born in Charlestown, the capital of Nevis in the British West Indies, on January 11, 1755. His mother was Rachel Faucett Lavien and his alexanderhamiltonfather was James A. Hamilton. Hamilton’s parents were never legally married therefore the Church of England denied him education in the church school instead, he received individual tutoring and classes at a private Jewish school. He enhanced his education with the family library of 34 books, including Greek and Roman classics. Hamilton was orphaned on February 16, 1768 because his mother had contracted a severe fever which killed her and his father had abandoned them years ago. Hamilton then became a clerk at a local import-export firm, which traded with New England, he was left in charge of the firm for five months in 1771, while the owner was at sea. He and his older brother James were adopted briefly by a cousin, Peter Lytton, but when Lytton committed suicide, Hamilton was separated from his brother. Wanting to get off his small island Hamilton wrote a post to the Royal Danish-American Gazette, the essay impressed them and they started a fund to educate him in the much larger American colonies. Hamilton applied to the College of New Jersey(now Princeton University) with the request that he be allowed to study at a quicker pace and complete his studies in a shorter time, his request was denied though. He later made a similar request to King’s College(now Columbia University) and he was excepted and started to attend in late 1773. Now you know a lot more about Alexander Hamilton than you did when you started reading this post.

Stand up for what —>you<— believe.

A rebel is someone who stands against or resists the authorities. I think that rebels should be courageous because they need to be able to stand up against people and not be afraid of the consequences, they should also be determined because it takes a lot of effort and determination to well, rebel. It is necessary to rebel when you don’t agree with what the authority is telling you or if you don’t believe in a cause. There are many things in life that should be rebelled against like, the use of fossil fuels, I think that there are other energy sources that we could use that wouldn’t pollute the air. Another thing that I think should be rebelled against is our dress code because I think that we should have the freedom to wear whatever we want and because that is one of the main ways we express ourselves. I know that I am not a rebel but there are still things that I think should be rebelled against.

No one is stopping me from writing this post.

Our most important right in The Bill of Rights is the first amendment that states that Congress can not make any laws about your religion or stop you from practicing your religion, or keep you from saying anything whatever you want, or keep you from publishing it. This right is very important because without it congress could tell you that you can’t practice your own religion. Also, you could get in trouble if they didn’t agree with something you said so I think that we are very lucky to have the right of free speech! This impacts us a lot today because we can say our opinions and not get in trouble because we have the right to say what ever we want it also impacts us because we can practice what ever religion we want and nobody can tell us what we have to believe.

What I would teach a teacher…

I would teach a teacher… not to just have us read out of a textbook but, to have us doing activities so that we aren’t dozing off and forgetting everything we learned. I would also teach them about how we learn and that we don’t just like sitting there because that is very boring.
