Do you know the laws you live by?

There are many amendments in the constitution that I didn’t of but, one of them stood out at me it said that excessive fines and bills are prohibited as well as well as cruel and unusual punishment. This one stood out to me because it says no cruel punishments but then again we have a death penalty in many states. Don’t get me wrong I agree with the death penalty because if you murder someone, shouldn’t you deserve the same? So wouldn’t having the death penalty go against the amendments in our own constitution. The fines you get for littering and speeding  or something else like that those I think are reasonable fines but I don’t think that they should go anything above like 500 dollars or close to that.I was pretty surprised by this amendment and it made me look at all the other laws and rights in the constitution to see what else I didn’t know about.constitution

Control.

Childhood.

trapped and terrified.

They were 1,475 ft. below ground in the San Esteban Mine in Chile and the rock above them collapsed. This mine collapse trapped 33 Chilean miners who were told they wouldn’t be getting out until Christmas were probably very ecstatic when they got out about two months before expected on October 13, 2010. They got out early because the hole that rescuers were drilling in the ground was going much faster than expected and they had already drilled a hole to send food and water down but that wasn’t large enough to send people up in. After 69 days under ground many of them were so relieved and overjoyed to see their loved ones again. Also after coming up many of them realized that life is too short to wait, so they have already started making wedding plans!  Before the collapse one of the miners had asked if he could go back above ground after hearing noises that meant that the ground above them was unstable and would probably collapse but his request was denied.

Remember when…

Do you remember a lot from your childhood? Because I don’t I wish I did though, I feel that our childhood is important because it is our history and what makes us, us. At family gatherings people tell stories about me from when I was little and I remember one of them it was that I was trying to pick up these blocks and carry them across the room and there were too many of them for me to pick up but I couldn’t figure that out and every time I leaned over to try to pick one up I would drop a couple others and that went on for a while till I finally figured out that I had to take two trips! I wish that I knew more about my childhood than the stories that people tell me.

Wouldn’t you?

Miles of warm, sunny beaches. Thats where I would like to be at christmas time… Hawaii! I would like to be there because it is so warm there all year round and I love the warm weather. You could have all of your christmas experiences just in the nice sunny weather. Now don’t get me wrong I do love the snow but, I like hot weather better! I would go for 2 or 3 weeks, probably late December and early January when it is coldest here. I think it would be really cool to have a palm tree instead of a christmas tree(:

Do You Remember?

Last week I did a post saying that I was doing a project on Benedict Arnold, well here is the final product!!!

My name is Benedict Arnold, I was a brigadier general during the Revolutionary War, I was also a very infamous traitor during that time. Before the Battle of Ridgefield My men and I stopped in Redding, CT to camp out and so I could get food at the Tavern. Myself and General Silliman went to Ridgefield from there and with about 500 men we built barricades all along the road through town. When the British arrived at noon they attacked with an hour long artillery barrage on the barricades and then tried to test both sides of our army. General Silliman had expected them to do so, so we had forces posted on either side to try and weaken the initial attack. The British though were very persistent and eventually breached our barricade They then lead us on a running battle through town and gained control of Ridgefield. After that  my horse was shot with nine musket balls and went down. I hadn’t realized what happened until I was terrified and trapped under my horse. I believe that I was very lucky to have survived the Battle with just a minor injury to my left leg.

How do you like it?

Every single word.

I made a wordle of all the words that I have used on my blog! It surprised me how many words there were because I thought there would be a lot more, but i guess not. I thought that it was fun and I really recommend making one!Screen shot 2010-10-19 at 3.35.21 PM

Introducing some new blogs(:

I found 3 blogs that I liked! Kenya is one of them and her posts are really interesting and she actually keeps up witth her blog adding new posts every once and a while. Indy does the same though their blogs are very different I think that you should go to their blogs and read some of the posts because some are really good!!! Sophie’s is the last one I found that I liked because she does a lot of the challenges and her posts are really good(:

Who was Benedict Arnold?

I wonder… who Benedict Arnold was. We are doing a project in Social Studies and Irina and I are doing it on Benedict Arnold, it kind of connects to a book we are reading in L.A. called My Brother Sam is Dead and so one of the questions we have to answer is why he was in Redding, CT. I don’t know to much about him but, I hope I do after our project. When we are done I will do a post about who Benedict Arnold was!Benedict Arnold
