First Amendment: Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

I beleive that the First Amendment affects people’s lives everyday. If we didnt have this law, then people would not be allowed to go to church, like they do. There would be no churches or practice of religion. There would (possibly) be less holidays without religion, because some holidays revolve around religion. So, if we didnt have this Amendment, we wouldnt have been able to go to church today.269198993_4776466c32_o

    Dear Carolyn,

You have an excellent post here about the First Amendment! That is a very important one. To me the ability to speak your mind, without fear of going to jail for your opinion is critical to a democracy.

    What do you think?
