Constitution Video :)

Our movie is about Article 1 Section and 2. The section 1 states that congress splits up into House of Representatives and the Senate. Section 2 says that you must be 25 years old, know a lot about your state and be a citizen for 7 years in order to run for Representative.

We made a video showing our viewers all the requirements you must fufill in order to be a representative. There was one girl (Dom) who was only 16. She was not allowed to run because she was too young. I was a girl who knew nothing about her state. Carly (Sergio in the video) was from Mexico and had only been a citizen in the United States for 3 months. You must be in the state for 7 years.

We had some difficulties making our video with Windows Movie Maker. Sometimes it wouldn’t save to the right folder. Sometimes it froze. It was so hard but eventually the video came out good.

Through this process, I learned that you can figure out what things say, even if the words are difficult to understand. In the beginning, we had to figure out what our section of the Constitution meant. It was really, really hard but we figured it out and once we did, the rest was easy.

*VIDEO COMING SOON!!*

First Amendment: Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

I beleive that the First Amendment affects people’s lives everyday. If we didnt have this law, then people would not be allowed to go to church, like they do. There would be no churches or practice of religion. There would (possibly) be less holidays without religion, because some holidays revolve around religion. So, if we didnt have this Amendment, we wouldnt have been able to go to church today.269198993_4776466c32_o

I think this image says a lot, depending on how you look at it. I see 2 people (little kids, in this case) who are really really good friends. If I had to give this picture a caption, it would be ‘Don’t walk in front of me and be my leader. Don’t walk behind me and be my follower. Walk beside me and be my friend.” I love that quote and I think it captures this picture really well.

This pretty much sums up my blog (:

Living UnderGround..

Could you imagine being trapped underground for 69 days?! I deffinetly couldnt. But the Chilean miners have experienced it. There were 33 miners in the mine and all were saved. The rescue costed $20 million!! Crazy, right? The collapse happened on August 5th. Food and water were sent to the miners through a hole drilled in the ground.

If I were trapped underground, I would try to make friends with the people I was with. It ought to be pretty boring under there. I can see why they would need to send a pshycologist underground before the miners came up. Once I got out, I think that I would run home (to avoid the press) and spend time with my family.

Does Anyone Know ANYTHING About War? :P

I wonder how war starts. Is there an official document or something that states that there is a war going on or does a country just start shipping soldiers overseas to fight?

•I could not find an actual answer, which is really unfortunate! I think I’m just searching wrong, but the most I can come up with is that when 2 countries disagree with a topic/issue, war begins. If you ask me, that’s a pretty pathetic answer. DING, DING, new question time!

I wonder how war generals are chosen.

•… New Question (UGH!)

I wonder about Sybil Ludington. Who was she?

•Sybil Ludington is known as the “female Paul Revere” for her ride from Putnam to Duchess County. Sybil’s dad was a malitia officer in the Revolutionary War. Sybil was the oldest of 12 kids. She was deffinetly a patriot. She wanted to be free and fight in the militia with all the other men, but her mom did not approve. She was just tucking her brothers and sisters to bed when a messenger came in to warn the family that Danbury was being burned down. Col. Ludington agreed Syblil to go on the trip. She travelled 40 miles from her home, leaving at 9 pm. She managed to avoid all British soldiers and Loyalists. General Washington later thanked Sybil for her courage. Sybil lived to be 78 years old with six children who learned all about her ride.

A Day In The Life.. Of a Student.. That Goes To School.. Named Carolyn (:

Ever wondered what I think about what I do every, single day?

OF COURSE YOU HAVENT! But I’m gonna say this anyways (:

•Clothes are to finding something to wear as treasure is to treasure hunt. (I always have a hard time finding something to wear in the morning! I’m barely awake as it is, so finding an outfit that is appropriate for the weather and matches is really REALLY hard!!)

•Classes is to 8:00 a.m. as running a marathon is to 1 a.m. (I dont want to have to use a part of my body that can’t function right so early in the morning. When you have classes really early, it’s hard to focus because all you want to do is sleep.)

•Attire is to dance as uniform is to baseball. (Every Wednesday, I have to get ready and go to dance. I dance for 3 hours and have a lot of fun doing it)

Boring is to homework as boring is to watching paint dry. (Don’t we all find homework boring? I definitely do!)

•Sleeping is to resting for the day ahead as  drinking water is to energizing for a running race. (This one doesn’t need much explaining. Sleep=good. End of story. Literally. Bye!!)

2,000 Angry Men = 4 Mean Girls?

Towns people are to Sons of Liberty as teenagers are to cliques.

What this means, is that when something (worth gossiping) goes around, The Sons of Liberty/cliques are the ones who spread it around.

The Sons of Liberty were a group of townspeople who gathered together to protest against the British Crown. There were roughly 2000 men in the group. There were people from the Sons of Liberty in all 13 colonies by the end of a year.

The Sons of Liberty remind me of a clique of mean girls because they are demanding to get what they want. Girls are just mean and nasty human beings most of the time. They just find a way to complain about something that really isn’t important. The Sons of Liberty were sort of the same way. They disagreed with Parliament and did all they could to change it. They picked fights (like girls), complained (totally, ridiculously like girls), and hurt people physically(in war) and emotionally(possibly killing someones family members?)!

It’s an Environmental Giant?!

If you were to visit my state/province, what would the must see places be?

The first & best one that I can think of is Sleeping Giant State Park. Sleeping Giant is a HUGE mountain that looks like a giant lying on it’s back. It so cool. You can hike up a path that is about 1.2 miles long or take a really difficult path that can be up to 6 miles long. (I think. You’ll have to check out the website!) I took a hike that was around 5 miles, and let me tell you, hiking is totally not my thing. I went with my family and we had to hike up rock walls (not the ones you find on a play scape, but actual diagonal rocks), go down rock walls, hike through woods and a few swampy areas. The view is beautiful, though. It ought to be GORGEOUS right now because of the leaves changing colors. There are even some wild blueberries (totally safe to humans, of course!) that you can pick when they are nice and ripe. Finally, once you get to the top, there is a castle about 3 or 4 stories high that you can climb. You really have to work to get there (depending on the path you take) but, in the end, it’s pretty fun (:
