Tecumseh!

Posted in Uncategorized on February 27, 2011 by cassandrar

The person i chose to write this post on is Tecumseh, the Indian who wanted to get the Indians land back that the Americans took. Our text book did a good job explaining what Tecumseh did, but they did not explain who Tecumseh really was. This textbook left out who Tecumseh was, where he came from, and how he was brought up. I wouldn’t change this text, i would just add more to the beginning of it too show everyone who Tecumseh was. In this text i would have included Tecumseh’s earlier life, before he started fighting back, and what happened to him then. I would add, for example, how he and his town were attacked by American Colonies at least 5 times before moving too another village, where they got attacked AGAIN. These attacks were the things that made Tecumseh rebel against the Americans, and they made him want the Indians land back even more.

Interesting? Maybe…

Something i found interesting when I was looking for events on the internet was slavery fro 1800 to 1865.  I found this interesting just because this is a really long time for slavery to be going on, and finally in 1865 the 13th amendment in the Constitution ended slavery. I found a time line on slavery and i thought it was nice how the underground railroad started and people had safe houses for the runaway slaves. I think slavery was not right at all and it should have never happened.

Great Leaders Make History!

Posted in Uncategorized on January 27, 2011 by cassandrar

“Do great leaders make history? Or does history make great leaders?”

I think that great leaders make history. I believe this because if there were no great leaders we would not have as much history as we do today, and we wouldn’t have had as much change in the world. For example if Martin Luther King had never rebelled against EVERYONE else who was against blacks, blacks may not have the same rights as us today. That is why i believe that great leaders make history.

My Sister Is My Leader!(:

Someone I see as a really great leader is my older sister, Kate. Three good leader characteristics that she has are that she is she means what she says, she is very very loud when she wants to be, and she is very determined to get something done if it needs to be done. An example of she means what she says is that she would never lie to any of us. This isn’t that great of an example of leadership, but if i tried on an outfit for her and she didn’t like it, she would tell me. This could be used in other ways besides that also. An example of her being loud is when her and my other sister Emily start fighting. At first it won’t be that bad but after a while there will be crying and screaming. An example of my sister getting everything done when it needs to be, is like her taking care of me when i was little. My mom would always make her babysit me and give me baths and all stuff like that, and she always got it one no matter what. I see my big sister as a great leader and i always will!

Leader or not?

A good leader has many characteristics. I think some of them are to be nice but stern at the same time. You should not be a bully to your followers, but you also shouldn’t be too soft on them. You have to work your followers to an extent, but not work them so hard that they are almost dead. I think leaders are made. I think this because anyone can be a leaders if they really try. For example, Martin Luther King was obviously not born a leader, since back then his skin color didn’t allow him too, but he became a leader because he tried hard enough. A time when i was a leader was during the summertime. My older sister works at a daycare during the summer, and one day i went in just to see what it was like. I got to be a leader that day because I helped out the younger kids with whatever they needed and they looked up too me. A time when i follow a leader is everyday. Everyday we come into school, and our teachers and principles are our leaders. Then when we go home, our parents are our leaders. I think anyone can be a leader if they really wanted too. If you look up any well known leader you will usually find that they were not that wealthy in the first place when they were young, and didn’t get everything they wanted. Anyone can be a leader if they really want it. I guess sometimes i am a leader. It’s not always good to be a leader, because you don’t want to lead people into bad things. I try to lay back with what everyone is doing, but if they are doing something I don’t like or I don’t think is right, I will walk away. My strongest ability as a leader is that im loud, and I’m not afraid of people hearing what i have to say. I think you yourself is the only person standing in the way, because you don’t believe in yourself enough to be one.

Tiger!(:

My most significant object is my stuffed animal, Tiger. He’s obviously a stuffed tiger, and his name is Tiger. When I was little I always used to steal stuffed animals from my sisters. In the end I usually gave them back, but one day I took my sister Kate’s animal, tiger. I liked tiger a lot apparently, and I would never let him leave my side. Sometimes I would leave him at my babysitters house, and I would cry when I realized it, because I couldn’t sleep without him. I love tiger and he’s really special too me!(:

This is the day where I’m going to change my self image, if you want to call what I’m going to do that. I’m going to not deal with ANY drama in this school any more. Well, at least I’m gonna try my best. I don’t know if it is going to work, but i will definitely try. My entire school is nothing but drama drama drama. I’m so super sick of it it’s ridiculous. So I’m not participating with all the stupid fights that go on here. One way I’m going to try and stop myself from be in drama, is I’m not going to talk about anyone behind there backs. So on January 1st, 2011, I’m DONE with drama.

True or false?

No one still knows if the cherry tree story about George Washington is true or not, but most believe it isn’t. Mason Locke Weems wrote  a biography on George Washington, and he was the first to ever tell of this story. How would he know this is a true fact if George Washington had lived many years before he had? Not a lot of people think that this story is true, but know one knows for sure.

what if……??

Posted in Uncategorized on December 17, 2010 by cassandrar

What if…the world blew up today?…we all had to move to a different state and meet new friends?….Mr. Bogush wasn’t the best teacher ever? These are just some of the questions that popped into my head while watching this slide show (well, maybe except for the last one (: ). Its true, to parents, it’s not “what if” anymore, its “this is what will happen”. We all need to ask this question a lot more often, because it could really help broaden our minds to what could happen unexpectedly one day…

Strict or loose?

Posted in Uncategorized on December 9, 2010 by cassandrar

I think we should all believe in loose construction of the Constitution. I believe this because no one ever follows by EXACTLY what the rules say. There are some situations where some laws in the Constitution may have to be bent. The elastic clause pretty much states what i said, you can bend the rules, but you can’t bend them SOO much that you break them. This is why i believe in the elastic clause because it is only fair to do when you need to bend something in one of the laws that you won’t get in trouble for it.
