Symbols have been around forever. Many common symobls are peace signs, the American flag and much more. A symbol, in my opinion, is something that  has a special meaning to someone. I feel that symbols are created when either someone is going through a hard time and they want something to give them courage and hope instead of hearing someone tell them that everyting is going to be alright. It can also be a memory of something symbolizing how far someone has come or to remember happy times.  It can give someone a sense of comfort. The American flag, one of the most common symbols, i feel, symbolizes freedom, liberty, strength and courage. It is considered a symbol because it tells a story without using words. The flag shows what has happened in our  past and that Americans will never back down or give up. <3
