If I was in charge, some of the rules about imigration, I would make them about who can become an american. Which would probably be people who know what they are talking about. What do I mean by that? I mean that for someone to be american, they need to know what languages we speak and how american people act when they are with there friends and family.

Should we define somebody by their actions or intentions? I think that we should define someone by their intentions, because they atleast thought to do something for you, weather it is nice, or mean. Someone’s actions might not be very nice, and you don’t want to be judged by that. Someone’s intentions might be to do good things.

Our teacher Mr. Bogush had us ask 15 people, from three different generation what the flag meant to them. After that we typed down all of the words. The words that we used to most came to show up bigger sized than the other ones.  We used a website named Wordle. untitled

I think that the words in the Star Spangled Banner are historically accurate.

Oh, say can you see by the dawn’s early light
What so proudly we hailed at the twilight’s last gleaming?
Whose broad stripes and bright stars thru the perilous fight,
O’er the ramparts we watched were so gallantly streaming?
And the rocket’s red glare, the bombs bursting in air,
Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there.
Oh, say does that star-spangled banner yet wave
O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave?

This is The Star Spangled Banner, I am going to write what I think it means.

I think it means, like can you see the mornings light, and at the midnights shining, and while the stripes and stars are shining, but the fights are dangerour. The groups where watching calmly. The rockets where a nice color red, and bombs where everywhere. They saw that our flag was still there.  They’re asking does the flag wave

What did Dolley Madison do?

Dolly Madison, you may ask, what did she do? Well, she was mostly known for her fashion statements and her personality. She was one of the first ladies. She was married twice. But to two different guys. She was a pretty smart girl, but when it comes to education, it says there are not very many records of it. One of my favorite quotes, of the many that she has, mine would probably be “disaffection stalks around us.” dolley-payne-todd-m_117032t

My Reasons Why a Symbol Is Created

Filed under: Uncategorized — courtney at 10:45 am on Wednesday, January 6, 2010

Do you ever wonder about when we create symbols? Well, I think that we create symbols when something great, or historical happens. I also think that we create symbols so we could remember what happend from the past.  It’s easier to remember what happend when you can say, oh i remember that symbol. It just seems easier. That is also why i think that we create symbols also, so it’s easier to remember why this special event or historical event happend. It’s easier to know what happend when you can see the symbol. If you didn’t have symbol’s than you would just be like what, cause it wouldn’t make as much sence as it does for when you see the symbol and can visualize it. When you see an object you can see that it reflects to a story that might have been told to you. If you where to give someone examples of a symbol, and you just say a star, you wont know what it looks like or the size of it.

5 rights that students should have.

Some rights that I think students should have are, to be able to miss atleast one or more homework assignment, but they pay the “price.” We should also have freedom as speach, as in to be able to talk about what we want. Another one is to be able to actually walk around in school, so we’re not sitting down all day. I also believe that we should be able to talk to our friends at a certain time. I think we should be able to text during school, what if it’s an emergency text from your mother or father and you can’t read it? That’s not fair, and atleast just during homeroom in the afternoon. I think that on almost every project to have a partner.
