Andrew Jackson

Andrew Jackson was probably the oddest and the weirdest presidents that ever lived. Andrew Jackson was  born to poor Irish immigrants on March 15, 1767. Andrew Jackson was named after his dad who died right before Andrew was born making him have no dad which is a hard thing to endure if you’re just a kid. When he was young he attended a good school but he always tried to act out by doing pranks, fighting, and cursing etc which quickly diminished the hopes of ever becoming succesful. After school he decided to become an attorney which was hard considered all he did was fool around during class. Later on he was appointed attorney general for the Mero District. He was then selected to be a U.S Senator but then stopped his carreer because of financial problems at home. After a few years he became Major General for the U.S in 1812 beginning the “Forgotten War”. In 1813 Jackson won many wars agaisnt the Creeks. At the Horseshoe bend, Jackson surrounded the Creeks and won the battle ending the creek war. On January 8th, 1815 the British unleashed a full scale attack on Jackson at New Orleans. Jackson then won the battle causing a celebration. Jackson was voted president and was one of the most important presidents ever.

Actions or Intentions

Should you judge people by their actions or intentions? I’ve recently been asked this question but I was completely stumped and didn’t know what to say. Anyways I had to pick a side and I picked intentions. For example you see a bully picking on someone and you need to stop the fight somehow. You then try to defend the kid getting picked on by beating up the bully. Should the person defending the kid get judged by beating up the bully or judge him by his intentions. Now some people might say that his intentions were pure but he could’ve gotten a teacher to stop the fight. That could work but that might not stop the bully from picking on other kids. He could pick on kids outside of school and the teachers couldn’t do anything, so by just defending the person getting picked on it would stop the bully.

Words are fun!

For an assignment in school we had to ask 15 people what the American Flag meant to them. During class my teacher showed us this site to put all our answers on called “Wordle“. Wordle organizes the words and create “words clouds” from the text you provide. You can change the layout, color, font, etc.

Why are poems so hard to understand?

Most people don’t know who Francis Scott Key is or why the song “Star Spangled Banner” is the United State’s national anthem. During the War of 1812. the battle at Ft. McHenry started at 6:00 A.M on September 13th 1814 and ended at 7:00 A.M on September 14. In the end the Americans won and they were celebrating like they would not live another day. Francis Scott Key was a spectator of the bombardment at Ft. McHenry. Francis  Scott Key looked and saw the American Flag still hanging proudly after 25 hours of waiting. When he saw the American Flag still hanging he was inspired to write a poem describing his experience on the battle.

Most people have heard the song “Star Spangled Banner” but how many people knows what they lyrics to the song mean? I will be putting what I think the first verse of the song means and sort of translate it so other people knows what it means. I’ll be putting the original line then my version of it on the bottom.

Oh, say, can you see, by the dawn’s early light,

Can you see by the sunrise

What so proudly we hailed at the twilight’s last gleaming?

At night we still had our flag up high

Whose broad stripes and bright stars, thru the perilous fight,

The flag hung proudly through the fight

O’er the ramparts we watched, were so gallantly streaming?

From a far you can still see it high

And the rockets’ red glare, the bombs bursting in air,

Fireworks shot up in the air

Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there.

Showed our flag was still there

O say, does that star-spangled banner yet wave

The flag few high

O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave?

We are now free and are fearless

What Symbols Mean

MCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCDONALDSThe reason we create symbols is so we can have something to represent something that is important or something that should be remembered. When people create symbols they want it to last and make it mean something important. People might need symbols so that they could have something to remember the event that happened when they made it. A strong and meaningful symbol is the American Flag. People might think the flag means freedom or patriotism. On the American Flag there is 50 stars and 13 lines in a pattern of red and white. The 50 stars represent the 50 states and the 13 lines represent the 13 colonies.

Eat til’ you drop

My passion is eating. Eating is when you put food in your mouth and start chewing in a repetitive motion. Something new I would try is to eat 10 whoppers in 10 seconds. I get excited when I get a tremendous amount of money to buy fast food. I’m passionate about it because food is really tasty. I spend my time to do it when I’m hungry. What holds me back from my passion is that my stomach is to small. I see my passion being apart of my future to survive.

Best Beatboxer Alive

Alright he’s probably not the best beatboxer alive but he’s my favorite. His name is Daichi, his skills in beatboxing are AMAZING. I suggest you watch his video on youtube if you’re the least bit interested in beatboxing or if you’re just plain bored.

Here’s the link to his video.

Students Rights

Five rights each student should have is that they could have electronics in school like iPods, Cell Phones, or Mp3 players. If they fail or don’t pay attention then it’s their fault because they decided not to pay attention. I think another right should be that they should be able to wear what they want like hats. Students should also be able to have more breaks. Also students should have a longer lunch. They should be able to sit where they want in class too.

My Inspirations

My inspirations are Phyman Dang and Peter Pham. Firstly Phyman Dang is a martial artist and tumbling. He is very talented in what he does and even has a team called MFH. It stands for Monkies Flying High. The team consists of martial artists and tumblers. A tumbler is someone who does flips and “gravity-defying” stunts. Phyman is really talented at such a young age.

Peter Pham is a bboy, cheerleader, and tumbling. I think that’s funny because you don’t really have that combination together. He has been bboying since 2006 , tricking since 2007, and just recently started cheerleading.

Phyman and Peter are both very talented and I hope to be like them someday.

Check them out in your free time :]

Gamblerz Crew

Gamblerz Crew is a bboy crew. I chose to write about them because I’ve been watching Gamblerz Crew dance for about 1 year and I’ve really come to like them and they’ve become my favorite. They’re a korean crew so they aren’t really known in the U.S.A. They have won alot of major competitions like BOTY(Battle of the Year). I think that they’re doing their best this year because they’ve won R-16 2008 and Cyon 2009 which are competitions in Korea. Most people don’t know this but in most bboy crews they have bboy names. It could be anything random.
