Sick Quotes!!

4 05 2012

We spend our lives searching for ourselves so much that by the time we’re done we’ve forgetten who we really are….

Yes.. I thought that was deep. I just came up with that or maybe my subconscious heard it from somewhere in the past but I was bored on a Friday night like a loser with nothing to do so I decided to share my awesomely deep quote with you. I find that self discovery is a slow and painful process that never really ends and that by the time we’re done finding ourselves is when we leave the world. I think people rediscover themselves frequently, sometimes too frequently. Meaning that some people portray different people all their lives but never really know who they are. I hope you find yourself someday and I hope that whoever you are is the best person you can be.  I will now leave you with a quote I heard on Criminal Minds and if someone can tell me who said it I’ll send them a big bag of candy… just kidding I don’t have that kind of authority xD   ok here’s the quote :

” You are who you pretend to be, so be careful who you pretend to be…”

Stay deep <3333

I love ?

27 03 2012

Heyy bloggers. So i realize that the name of my post is also the name of a Taylor Swfit song (im sorry) but I think this is a good topic to write about and I couldn’t think of a better name for it. Well, we’ve all heard the words ” I love you” before; from our parents, friends, and significant other =). Anywayyy we never really stop to think about what it means when people say these three simple words or whether they mean it or not. Love is said to be many things and is said quite often.  When the words come from parents or siblings or other family members, love is typically understood to be a feeling of respect and gratefullness to be in the others life.

When friends say it to use, it can often be said with a tone of humor and occassional sarcasm. Like with my friend Danielle, (her blog is Danielle’s Blog<3333) we always joke around with eachother and most of the time I make fun of her but at the end of the day we can go to eachother for anything and we  love eachother for that as friends.

When it comes to relationships and significant others it can get more confusing…depending on who you are and how you feel about that person. Love is used as an excuse a lot to get to mhm other further steps in relationships. Sometimes it is said as a way for the person to convince themselves that they love the person they’re saying it to but in reality they don’t. But what bothers me the most is when people put an age limit on the word love. Typically this is an adult thing, not wanting to see young kids get hurt when “love” doesn’t work out in the end. However, in my experience, the only ones that say this seem to not know much about love. My family for example don’t believe its a good idea to say these words too young… all of their relationships have ended up in divorce. And its not like they learn their lesson either because most of them have remarried and end in divorce due to the same problems they had the last time. So I bet you’re all wondering my opinion. And even if you’re not stop reading cuz I’m gonna tell you anyway haha ;) .  I believe that love has no age and doesn’t have to come just once in your life. Love can be expressed in anyway by anyone. I believe that the right time to say I love you comes when you find that your feelings about a person have spiked for ligitamnet reasons. When you are with the person you love they can only make you happy and when you talk to them you feel alive and better than the person you used to be. And so what if love leads to heartbreak, it’s better to have loved and lost than to have never loved at all. When the time come s that I say or hear those words from the person i love i will accept it (and probably ball my eyes out) and not care what happens in the future or whether I ‘m going to get hurt.  After all, love is often said to be giving someone permission to destroy you, but trusting them enough not to.

Totally Unexpected

25 08 2011

Hey bloggers. How many of you like the unexpected? A common answer to this question would be “it depends on whether its good or bad.” I on the other hand, don’t really care, I love when something unexpected happens to me. It’s a really exciting feeling! Just recently something really unexpected happened. Not to me, but to the entire east coast of the U.S.A. WE GOT AN EARTHQUAKE! Yeah, you heard right, an earthquake. Wednesday afternoon. It was a beautiful day until around 2:00 when states from Georgia to Massachusetts got hammered with a whopping 5.9 earthquake. For those of you that live in places like California, you probably think that’s nothing because they happen all the time on the west coast. Believe it or not, this was one of the biggest earthquakes the east has seen since the 1800s!

So I bet you’re wondering if I felt this massive shake up right? I would love to say yes… but no :( . The funny thing is, my friend that lives less than 10 miles from me felt this earthquake while my neighborhood got nothing. But the earthquake got crazier than that. One lady was pulling into a Home Depot parking lot and felt her car shaking. When she went into the store, no one felt a thing. Which I guess is a good thing because you don’t want a store with a bunch of wood boards and dangerous tools to be shaking all over the place. It seems like I missed out on this little event so if you’ve ever felt an earthquake, leave a comment and tell me how it feels!

Have a good one!:)

What Really Bugs Me :(

23 02 2011

Hey bloggers.  There are so many things that bug me about school. The main thing that really bugs me though is text books. Yup, I said it, text books! They’re heavy, thick, boring, old, and the worst thing is they don’t give any interesting information at all! For example, my history text book gives absolutely no fun facts about anything in American history. Right now, my social studies class is learning about the War of 1812 which is actually kind of interesting. I was reading through my book for homework and I noticed something that I didn’t expect to learn.

First Lady Dolley Madison

First Lady Dolley Madison

As the British were coming through to attack and destroy Washington D.C., everyone in the capital fled from the scene all except for the First Lady, Dolley Madison. She didn’t leave until almost the very last second because she felt that it was important to save the painting of the first President, George Washington. She thought that it had to be saved for people in the future. I don’t know of anyone who would risk they’re life for a picture of someone they never even knew! So now here’s what bugs me, they didn’t enough information about Dolley Madison in my opinion.

First of all, the textbook doesn’t even mention why she wanted to save the painting. I mean people could have thought that she was crazy or something if they didn’t know that she was trying to save it so that people could see the president hundreds of years later. Also, I think that the book could have included a little bit about Dolley herself.  Dolley was an interesting person. She was really outgoing, very fashionable, kind of a trend setter, and she was well known for throwing parties in the White House. People said that with all the political arguments that occurred in Washington D.C., she was the one who kept everything calm. Also, she was very different from her husband President James Madison. She was outgoing and he was always kind of quiet and reserved. Many people think that she was some of the reason that Madison was reelected. I enjoyed researching more about the first lady and I wish our book had more facts about her. Maybe I should write a new history textbook with exciting facts about history!! You know what I take that back that’s a lot of work and it’s February vacation. Sorry 8th graders, you’ll have to be stuck with the same textbook for a while :( .

Sick of Snow!!!

4 02 2011

Hey bloggers.  So here in Connecticut we’ve been getting a ton of snow its so ridiculous. There’s probably four feet of snow out there. I’m not the only one who’s tired of it either though. Most of my friends facebook statuses read “sick of snow I want summer” or “no more snow days we’ll never have summer” or”counting the days until warmer weather” and “that groundhog better not have seen his shadow!” My little sister is 6 and she can’t walk through our yard without getting buried in snow. The teachers are getting annoyed because we have a lot of snow days and its messing up their plans in class. To explain my pictures below, my dad and I build homemade Charlie Brown characters for christmas and they’re all about 4 feet tall some shorter none taller than that though. We put them up and they’re usually gone by New Years but because of the snow, we can’t dig them out of the ground! In fact, we haven’t seen ground since 2010!! The only interesting thing about this consistant storm is that the meteorologist for CTs news channel says that this is all because of the flow of the jet stream. Its swerving up and down and up and down like a rollercoaster instead of a straight line causing all the weather to continue to stay the same. Also at one point in January, the only state with absolutley no snow at all was Florida. My cousins live down there and I’m really tempted to send them a big old box of snow! It’ll finally clear up our yard! Have a good day and stay warm!

Did You Know??

4 02 2011

Hey bloggers. So I’m kind of an invention freak. I like to learn about inventions  and invent things myself. I was doing some research on obscure inventions of the 19th century. There were some bizzare results that came up but one of the coolest things I thought was the invention of the soda fountain. Most people tend to forget about it because it was kind of short lived after fast food and burger joints and all that stuff came out. Instead of there just being a small little thing where you fill up your cups in McDonalds or Burger King there were actual places where you could go just to have a soda. No fries or burgers or McNuggets, just soda. The soda fountain is still around today, but there used to be one specific place where you could go and just have soda. The soda fountain was invented in in the early 1800s and was patented in 1810 by inventors Simons and Rundell in Charleston, South Carolina. In 1858, G.D. Dows invented the first marble soda fountain. The soda fountain shop or resteraunt whatever you want to call it was a popular hang out for people of any age. Today, most kids our age (13-14) usually hang out at a bowling alley or at the movies or something. Back then, most teens probably spent their Friday nights with their “BFFs” (for those who do not speak ”text” that’s Best Friends Forever) at the soda fountain. Hey I wouldn’t mind going to a soda fountain or something, not much to do though except drink soda and talk. Maybe I’ll stick with bowling and pizza and a movie. 19th century isn’t really for me. What do you think though? Should soda fountain shops come back or stay in the past? Leave a comment and let me know. Have a super fantabulous awesomest day :)

Our Greatest Leader

27 01 2011
Dr. King delivering one of his speeches

Dr. King delivering one of his speeches

Hey bloggers. When you really stop and think, they’re has been a lot of great leaders in the past century and even further back. Leadership is a quality that I believe some are just born with and therefore are destined to be great leaders. One person that was a great leader in fact, I think, one of the greatest was Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. He was a great leader back in the 1960s when African Americans were told that they could not go to certain places and do certain things. Soon, many people, both blacks and some whites, started to take a stand against this. None of them believed that this was fair. However, taking a stand was very risky and often got many people killed because police officers would shoot or beat anyone who was trying to take a stand. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. also felt that it was unfair to tell blacks what they could and could not do just because of the color of their skin. So he took a stand and decided to lead people to freedom. He was,I believe a natural born leader so he had some leadership qualities. He was:

  • charismatic
  • peaceful
  • and very intelligent

These  attributes were helpful when he gave speeches and lead walks protesting. Never once did Dr. King get violent because he didn’t think it would get him anywhere. When he spoke, he was calm and peaceful with the words he chose. He was charismatic and was able to convince people why they should fight against the unjustice in America. He was so good at grasping people’s attention he probably could have convinced you to jump off a bridge. This most likely came from his father who was a preacher in church.  Also, his amazing intelligence got him very far especially when he spoke to people. He knew how to be convincing and make a good point. Sadly, Dr. King was killed in 1968. He is remembered as a big part of American history and is one of the greatest speakers of all time. Do you know anyone else in your life who is also a great leader? If so please leave a comment and let me know. Have a good day!!
