Hey bloggers. So every once and a while I like to start researching something new. Right now I’m learning about the United States Constitution. So I was reading an online version of the constitution for kids (it’s a lot easier to read) and I thought I’d share some facts with you. The first ten amendments is called The Bill of Rights. In the Bill of Rights, it gives some basic laws, but these are the laws that most people remember. The Bill of Rights was made to protect each person’s own rights, and no one can take away those rights.

One amendment in the constitution is the first amendment which states that everyone is allowed freedom of speech and freedom of  religion. I personally think that this is the most important amendment in the constitution. Here in America, it seems that not many people believe this. Just recently, the country went crazy when a group of Islamics wanted to build a mosque, which is a Muslim place of worship, near Ground Zero.  Now I find nothing wrong with this, but this created quite a stirr in America. Ground Zero is where the terrorist attack known as 9/11 occured when two people took over airplanes and crashed them into the Twin Towers, destroying the towers and all the lives of the people on the plane, in the buildings, and American citizens all over the country. The people driving the planes where part of the terrorist group called Al-Quida and were also Islamic. People are denying the Muslims that want to build a mosque their rights to practice religion because they feel it to be offensive. Most people in America are viewing the mosque as a victory symbol for the Muslims in the country when they had nothing to do with the terrorist attack. All the poor people want to do is practice their religion.  If you have a strong opinion on this subject, please leave a comment. I’ll ask this…. Is America sticking to their constitution by not allowing the mosque to be built?
