What I picked was an event, which was called, “The War at Sea”. During “The War at Sea”, the Constitution’s triumph over the “Guerriere”, shocked many watchers. Most of them expected that the British would sweep the U.S. navy from the seas. From the beginning of the War of 1812, the British had hundred of ships of the U.S., that hey took from the Americans. Even though the U.S. were outnumbered, they did have some advantages against the British. The American Government had licensed people to go and attack British merchant ships. These people were called ”Privateers”. Privateers didn’t take much money from the American Government. The privateers would catch hundreds of British ships, and most of the British navy’s ships were trying to avoid the United States, but mostly the Privateers. This is what our social studies text book says about “The War at Sea”, but I mostly think that the text book did a pretty good job talking, and describing the war, and I’d have to say that the only thing that I would include if I was the editor of this book, is that I would add the leader of British navy ships, and if the Americans/Privateers fought back at the British when the British navy ships captured them.

I chose my mom because she assigns everyone in our family what to do, for example she tells us to lean our room, make our bed, and to get good grades in school. My mom is trustworthy because every time she has to do something on her own we trust her that she can do without our help. Also we respect her for what she does, like she tells us to clean our room, we automatically do it. Also we are loyal to my mom for what she does for this family. So yea, my Mom is my leader and probably for my family too.

The questions are mostly about being a leader, like have you been a good leader, have you done everything a good leader does, you know what I’m talking about. Anyway these are the questions that we have to answer about being a good leader:

What characteristics does a good leader have?
Are leaders made? or born?
Describe a time when you were a leader.
Describe a time when you followed a leader.
Can anyone be a leader?
Are you a leader?
What are you strongest abilities as a leader?
If you don’t consider yourself a leader, what is standing in the way?

The characteristics that a leader should have is that they should lead with no fear, and never give up on something. Also they need to be Trustworthy, and the leader has to be loyal to his/her group. Leaders are mostly made not born I believe. When I was a little boy I was made a leader, and well I didn’t do that good as a leader, but everyone in my group trusted me even though I failed do succeed our goal. I did a lot better when I followed another leader than myself, because I can just do any assignment the leader gave me without having to think of anything. Mostly anyone can become a leader if they put the effort into it. If you ask me if I’m a leader I’ll say no because I’ll mostly have a tough time deciding on choices. If I considered my self as a leader the thing that’s standing in the way is decision.

This is my object that is significant. This all started when our Social Studies teacher told us to bring in a object that has no value to anyone but the story behind it. Well I know my object is worth money but you probably don’t know how I got or earned it. When I didn’t have my ipod I felt left out when all my friends had their own ipod, playing with it listening to music, while I had to see them have all the fun. So last year I decided that I should get one, so I went to my parents and asked them if I can have one. We had a pretty long talk about having a ipod, and I told them all the reasons why I want a ipod for myself. They said no. I was so mad but I didn’t give up on the ipod, so what I did was help a lot around the house and get good grades. After helping a lot around the house all I was hoping for is getting good grades in order to get the ipod. I was so impatient that once the grades came I ripped the envelope with a eager expression. I saw my grades and they were acceptable. But the thing was that my parents didn’t have that kind of money for me for that time, so I decided to save money. After 1 month, I had saved up to at least $240, but I was still short by $20 I believe. Once I told my dad that I was $20 short, he told me one thing, but it was in Spanish, “Hector, I will give you that ipod if only you promise me to behave, and do well in school.” I promised to my dad. Then I finally had my own ipod, and I was able to have fun like everyone of my friends without the feeling of being left out.

When George Washingtonwas little about six years old, he was always chopping down trees and he was pretty famous by cutting trees for a child at a young age. Then one day he saw his father’s tree, and George was amazed at the beauty of the tree. Then George’s father looked for the tree, and all he found was a tree cut down, which was his favorite tree, and George Washington’s father entered his house full of anger, and asked George Wasington’s whole family about what happened to his favorite tree. Then little George Washington entered his house as well while holding his hatchet, and was asked if he chopped the tree. George was scared he did bot want to tell a lie, so this is what he said, “I cannot tell a lie, father, you know I cannot tell a lie! I did cut it with my little hatchet.” Then his father’s anger flew away, and he said to his son, “My son, that you should not be afraid to tell the truth is more to me than a thousand trees! Yes – though they were blossomed with silver and had leaves of the purest gold!” So George Washington actually cut his father’s tree down, and by telling the truth, you can sometimes not get in trouble at all.
