This is an update of a post…Me Teaching… This Should be Interesting

In the beggining of the year, the class had to write a post about what they would do if they could be a teacher for a day. At that time I answered, “ I wouldn’t be so strict and I’d be more understanding of what students are going throught.” I still stick by what i said before, but i have more to add. If i was a teacher, I wouldn’t judge anybody. Sure it’s okay to have an opinion of a person, but i feel teachers don’t just have an opinion, they make it clear whether they do or don’t like you. If  I’m ever a teacher, i would strictly grade my students on how well they are doing in my class, not who they hang out with or whether they talk in class. If a student wants to talk and another does too, it’s their choice, not the teachers. As long as it’s quitely I would allow it. I feel now thought, the thing teachers do the most, is judge. Children are not in school for advice about who they should or shouldn’t hang out with. If somebody wants to hang out with somebody, they will! I feel now, if a teacher doesn’t like one person that someone hangs out with, they automanically “dumb-down” anyone that hangs out with the person that’s not liked. I feel this is wrong on the teachers part and they should strictly focus on the work.

A student talking in class impacts how well a teacher can “teach” and other students cane “learn.” For example, if two girls constantly talk while a teacher is giving directions, the teacher can’t keep their focus and neither can the students around them. Judgement implies opinion…it is a fact that talking while directions are being giving make it harder for everyone, there is no judgement. If all you see teachers as is someone who gives you facts, and can offer no advice, then maybe staying home and simply reading off of a computer would be a better option :)

or…maybe the teacher has judged you. They have judged that you are capable of much much more than you are doing and are being held back by someone. Maybe you are judging the teacher. Maybe you are thinking that just because the teacher wants the best from you that the are being mean…maybe you are right…maybe everyone would be better off in a class with a teacher who doesn’t care if someone is hanging around with someone that is dragging them down, doesn’t care if someone is just talking and fooling around with a friend. It is sad that school has become a place in which students don’t want advice, just want facts that are forgettable. I mean who would want advice right? Nobody needs advice, especially people who are at the very beginning of their lives. I will have to remember to stop giving advice, and not care about anything but teaching facts…that is what you would want…right? ;)

Those are very valid points. Perhaps this paragraph was viewed in a different way than I meant for it to be percieved. Perhaps I am not the one being judged in a negative way, in my eyes, or at least by most teachers, in my opinion. In my eyes it’s is a different student, who i feel is very capable but, has gotten a “name” on a team and as we all know, when a name is given, its not taken back and sticks, forever. I feel “names” shouldn’t effect grades no matter who you are or what you do.

By the way, I wasn’t refering to anybody in particular, teacher wise, above. And i also wasn’t trying to make the post a negative thought either.

I totallly agree, well I agreee with the part on how teachers shouldn’t judge because everybodys their own person and other people need to accept that. :)
