Textbook&Websites. The Hartford Convention.

Posted in Uncategorized on March 7, 2011 by jessicar

In Social Studies class, we sometimes use a text book. Probably the same old boring textbook as many other people use. We had to pick a section from the textbook. The part I picked was about how the Federalists from New England had to go to the Hartford Convention, that’s pretty much all the book said. Then, I had to research some information online and found out that the Hartford Convention was when they considered the problems of New England in the War of 1812 I learned that all this took place on December 15, 1814 up until January 1815. The textbook didn’t do a good job on this section. There wasn’t one thing that had me interested. Personally, I think the computer and websites that I look at did a much better because they included pictures, told me about the war of 1812, what the Hartford Convention was and so much more. For example, the website that I’m on right now says that, the convention number was 26 delegates; who were sent by the legislatures from Connecticut, Rhode Island, and Massachusetts.  That’s what the website that I’m on now says. The website is, ” http://www.barefootsworld.net/hartford.html”  The textbook should have had alot more imformation and pictures. It was pretty boring and the author definatly didn’t make it interesting. The author should add more pictures and tell a little bit more of why they had The Hartford Convention and much more.

leaders make history.(:

“Do great leaders make history? Or does history make great leaders?”
This quote right here, isn’t one of those things you can type into google and get an answer. Its a question that actually makes you think, it doesn’t have a sertain answer.  I think, great leaders make history, because.. with out the leaders, what history would we have? You have to be able to stand up for what you believe in and fight for what you think is right. You need to have courage in what you do. Its the leaders that give us history, not the history that gives us leaders. You stand up for something to prevent it from happining, not something thats already over and done with.

~Leader.

Leaders? What does it take to become a great leader?  To me, being a leader, means you have to be able to take a stand and fight for what you believe in. You need to be courageous, people need to be able to look up to you.. A person who i think is a great leader is my brother, hes a Marine, alot of people in my family including me, look up to him. What makes him a great leader, is he taught me many many things in my life so far, hes good at mostly everything so with whatever he teachers me, he leads me, which would make me a follower. One time, I was a leader because I play softball, and this girl on my team didn’t know how to catch the ball with her glove right, because it always fell right out of her glove onto the ground, I taught her and helped her inprove, I showed her what to do and she followed what I did, now shes good, so she looks up to me to help her with whatever she needs help with. Being a leader, isn’t something you can be born with, its not one of those things where you can look at someone, point them out, and say, “oh, your definatly gonna be a leader when your older.” its not like that at all, because people change, there not always gonna be that shy little kid that they once were, they might grow up to be independent and couragiouse and willing to take a stand and be a leader. its one of those things that happen over night.

My significant object is THUMPER(:

Thumper is my favorite stuffed animal and it means alot for me to have.  My aunt Samantha gave it to me when I was two. She got it for me when she went to Florida because we’ve always been close, I mean, ever since I was little we had a very good relationship. She got me Thumper, which is a rabitt from the movie, Bambi. My aunt and I used to watch Bambi all the time and when we watched it I always told her how much Thumper was my favorite animal from the movie, so when she went to Disney World with her child, she brought me back Thumper. Though, she died over break, it means alot for me to have because she was my favorite aunt.

What would happen if.. One day we woke up and everything we had was gone.. Like, our homes, remaining of our things, were gone. I’d be really confused and not know what to do. I’d probably be wondering where everything went, why it was gone, what happend.

What would happen if the sun didn’t shine anymore? We’d probably have a really cold summer! Because, the sun heats up the Earth. But, if the sun decided not to sign anymore, I bet something really bad would happen! What if… Suntomorrow everything was just gone.

In history class; we got our history book in the begging of the year, just like everyone else. I had to read some things in the book about the Constitution. It was about if people should stick to the Constitution or not. I personally think, yes. We should stay with the Constitution. Its been this way for many many years now and its never been an issue before. So, we should keep it. The Constitution makes it so that we the people(; are all treated equally. It makes the world, better. Makes it, fair. Thats why you need the Constitution. If things on the Constitution were very hard to live with, then I’d say yes, change it. But, there is really no reason. Like, you don’t wanna have to change it for every little thing that you don’t like. You know? Cause, that just wouldn’t be necessary. I mean, sometimes life just isn’t fair, get over it. With out these great rules, our country would break down. well, it would be messed up. Cause, everyone who treat people hurtfully, and unfair.

Strict; not loose.

constitutionIf i had to decided between having a loose Constitution or a strict one. I’d personally pick, strict. Because, if we don’t have a strict Constitution then, everyone would do whatever they want..when they want. If we don’t follow the rules of the Constitution mad things can occur. These rules were set for a reason and i believe that we should follow them.

So, in history class were dealing with stuff from, Washington, D.C, and we had to write a post on something from there. I picked to write about the White House. I wanted to write about the White House because  its a common known place; the most famous people *presedents* have been there, obviously. Its just amazing. One day, I’d love to take a tour there. In the white house, things never stop, sometihngs always going on, someones always trying to make us live a better life. To make us all happy and have us live in peace.. This building reflects many things.

As I was researching, The Constitution, I came across some things that I didn’t know. A rule in the Constituion is, “finally, prohibits the states from several things. They cannot make their own money, or declare war, or do most of the other things prohibited Congress in Section 9. They cannot tax goods from other states, nor can they have navies.” I never knew that until I researched more about the Consitution, and I’m glad I did.(:
