“The Land of The Free and The Home of The Brave”

hAfter watching a video on the War of 1812, I had to look up the lyrics of the song the Star Spangled Banner or the ”National Anthem,” and analyze them. Francis Scott Key created the Star Spangled Banner.  Here is the first verse from the song:

Oh, say, can you see, by the dawn’s early light,
What so proudly we hailed at the twilight’s last gleaming?
Whose broad stripes and bright stars, thru the perilous fight,
O’er the ramparts we watched, were so gallantly streaming?
And the rockets’ red glare, the bombs bursting in air,
Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there.
O say, does that star-spangled banner yet wave
O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave?

I am going to make an analysis about the first verse as shown above.  I am going to tell you what they mean and I’m going to make a translation into my own words.

You can see the sunrise, So happy we cheered when the sun went down, America’s full stripes and shining stars through the risky fight, while being protected and the flag is bravely flying, the firework’s flames and the bombs exploding in the air, proved we did not lose the fight, the flag does fly on the pole, America is free and not afraid to fight.

Great i liked how you analyzed the song for younger unlearned kids to be able to understand. You spelt the first word in your blog wrong. Good Job.
