This weekend my family decided to take a hike down to the Southbury Audubon Society. While we walked through the meadow trail towards Beaver Loop, I decided to run ahead for about a half mile. About a quarter of a mile out I encountered an obstruction in the trail. It was a black rat snake. It was pretty smasll for a black rat, only about 3 feet long. It had a half swallowed rat in its mouth. After about ten seconds of me standing there, wishing I had brought my camera, It looked me straight in the eye, swallowed its rat. and slithered between my legs and into the bushes. wow.

my bubble.us where\’s my bonus points?
what is worth fighting for?
Frankly, I don’t know. I geuss when the situation presents itself then I will know but right now I’m kinda of clueless.
Here’s my best shot.
Survival is importaant to, well, your survivial. Therefor it is worth fighting for. Nobody wants to die. Not even suicidal people. Most people would fight to keep themselves alive. It’s better than being Dead. Death is an uncertanty. But life is good. People want to live. Therefor they fight. Now I know this sounds redundant but there are only a few reasons to stay alive. Friends and family is a big one. how would your death affect their life. But that’s not fighting for survival that’s fighting for your friends. Isn’t it?
What about fighting for principles?
fighting for what you believe in is important. Like the rebels. But what are you willing to sacrifice for those beliefs? Your family? Your friends? Nothing comes without consequences, to quote Optimus Prime (somewhat of a idol for us geeks) “no sacrifice no victory”, to quote our science teacher (Mr. Nagel) “for every action there is a equal and opposite reaction”.
do the pro’s outweigh the cons? Is that what makes something worth fighting for.

when people comment on your blog i don’t think they realize that anyone in the world can read it. That’s why when people comment on my blog I have to make sure that it’s apropriate. as long as it is apropriate I don’t really care what they put on my blog. If it critisises my work or compliments it, if it has a link in it or if not. i don’t care.

Last night was about as normal as it can get. I did my home work, played Halo, ate dinner and went to bed. Of course I never saw it coming, nobody ever does… it was stalking me all day, waiting for the perfect moment to strike. As soon as i crawled in bed, completely oblivious as to what was going on, it hit me. i never saw it coming, just right out of the blue. I should have expected it though. it always strikes at bedtime. Suddenly I realized what had happened. Inspiration had hit me. I was sure i was a goner but I wasn’t going down without a fight. I just sat still, not daring to think any thoughts. The more thoughts you think the more likely the chances that you will be its next victim. It was a pretty good idea though… Doh! it was too late, it got me. I rushed downstairs. My mother was on the computer. “Mom! Mom!” I whined. I need the computer now! “Sorry Josh” she said, “I’m using it now. Can’t it wait until tommorow?” By that time I had become fully enveloped by the inspiration. I couldn’t back down, and she knew it. “fine she conceded.” Forty minutes later I was off much to the joy of my distraught parents. It was 10:45 I wasn’t even half way done then. By 11:30 I had finished the storyboard. By 12:10 I had a script. By 1:45 I had a complete shot list. I was done. Inspiration was finally gone for the night. But it will be back. I haven’t started filming yet…

I’ve decided to keep all my fellow supergeeks up to date on our current D&D campaign. You can also find this on my wiki.
In our current campaign it is Colin’s turn to run the quest. He has chosen the pre-written quest, “Keep On theShadowfell”. My current character is not on the DM’s nice list for he has haggled, tricked and downright lied almost every valueble item and gold piece out of the town’s resident duke. Here’s an example: “Duke: Help! help! The dead have risen from their graves and we fear they will attack the town! Me: So let me geuss you want us to stop them? Duke: Well… yes. Me: I do’t know… i’m still pretty tired from the last little adventure you sent us on… Maybe if you offer me a little incentive… Duke: Fine, how much do you want?Me: 500 G.P. Duke: WHAT?! 50! Me: I’m sorry i’m growing tired… my fee just went up to 600. Duke: That’s not how you haggle! Me: Just for that little remark my fee is now 700. Duke: What do you even need the money for anyway! Me: Well, there was this magic armor I’ve had my eyes lately… Duke: I’ll give you the armor free. Me: Deal!” Now what I neglected to mention to our good friend the Duke and also our DM that the armor was worth 5000 G.P. My price was 500 G.P. Heh heh.

follow this link for my youtube account and observe my lego stop motion awesomeness. email me at josh.leblanc@snet.net.
On the first day of school I read to the kids Gerald the Giraffe. An audio recording is below:
Gerald the Giraffe
At the end of the book we talk about finding that cricket in all of us, listening to it, and letting it drive the creative spirit in each of them–even in school. At the end of class I give the students a “Million Word Assignment” that is due the next day. This year I got a little surprise. I didn’t receive an assignment on paper or through email, but a video instead. The video is below–I recommend watching it on youtube and clicking on “more info” and following along with the script he provided.
I asked the student if I could share the video, and as I left I asked a simple question…”Why did you do it as a video?” He answered, “Because I just wanted to be creative.”
How many other kids “just want to be creative?” Have you given your kids permission to “just be creative?”
i did just want to be creative, but a small portion of it was that i was bored on a tuesday evening. heres the video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PfLN21AGjsE&feature=sub
(still figuring out how to imbed it directly)
i’m also surprised that so many people commented on my post! i never knew that just following some crazy idea would start such a commotion! wow… i was reading the comments and all of them were positive. some people even seemed inspired by me. WOW!

The perfect classroom would have everything ever made in it. Therefor it is impossible for it to exist making this post completely pointless. (as was my intent)
