Photographic Proof That Photaography is a Dead Art

One day as I was fooling around on the computer I received this picture in an E-mail. I found it intriguing so I decided to look it up online. After about an hour of google searches it was plain that the picture was fake. But what made me angry was that it was nominated for picture of the year in 2002. Is this all Photography has been reduced to? Has photoshop ruined the photographic arts as we know it? Ever since then I have been paying special attention to pictures for signs of photoshop, and I’ve noticed that almost all pictures in magazines, newspapers, T.V. shows, billboards and even children’s books have been altered in some way. Most effects that took thousands of pounds of fancy equipment and a multi million dollar studio to make can now be artificially reproduced by a five year old with a simple $8O computer program.
It is saddening, so so saddening.
