Before Andrew Jackson became president he had a tough life.  He was born on March 15th,  1767. When Andrew was 13 him and his two older brothers joined the patriotic cause and volunteered to fight against the British.  His oldest brother died of heat stroke in 1779. In 1781 Andrew and his brother were bothcaptured. Jackson and his brother were both taken prisoner-of-war and bothgot smallpox in prison. Andrew’s mother got them both released for a prisoner exchange. Andrew recovered but his brother ending up dying. When Andrew was fully recovered his mother went to Charleston to help in the war by nursing sick and injured soldiers.  She caught cholera and died, making Andrew an orphan. Before Andrew became president he was an attorney and a judge of the Superior Court. Andrew also had a bad temper and got into many fights.

I think Andrew would make a good president but it wouldn’tcome easy to him. Since he has a bad temper he would have to take his time with more things and try to calm himself down when he got frustrated.  He went through alot in his life so I think that the experiences he’s had will help him become a better president. I think that the stuff that happened in his life will be a big help during the time that hes president.

Should people be defined by their actions or intentions? Well I think we should define someone on their actions.  I think this because someone could have good intentions but their actions might not show that their intentions were good. If someone robbed a store because they needed food because they didnt have enough money to buy food they should be judged by their actions even though their intentions ment well and they were just trying to get food for their family. They should know that its wrong and they should know that their actions were wrong and have to take the question markconsiquence of what they did. Sometimes you should judge people by their intentions but I think you should mainly judge them by their actions because if someone hits someone but their intentions were good that still doesnt mean you should be able to hit someone and get away with it. You should be punished for your actions wheather or not your intentions were good or not. Someone might be able to get away with their actions and then might try to do it again and they wont always be able to get away with it so I think they should be judged by their actions so they will learn that they shouldnt think that they can do whatever they want without getting punished for it.

What do you think the United States National Anthem means? Francis Scott Key wrote The Star Spangled Banner and it is now the United States National Anthem. I think it is historically accurate because Francis Scott Key was there during the War in 1812. Some of the things that he says in the song can also be found that it happened in the history of this war. This is the first verse.

Oh, say, can you see, by the dawn’s early light,
What so proudly we hailed at the twilight’s last gleaming?
Whose broad stripes and bright stars, thru the perilous fight,
O’er the ramparts we watched, were so gallantly streaming?
And the rockets’ red glare, the bombs bursting in air,
Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there.
O say, does that star-spangled banner yet wave
O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave?

This is what I think it means:

Can you  see the suns morning light

That so proudly we shouted, at the nights last light

Where the flags thick stripes and bright stars stood through the dangerous fight

Over the hills we watched were bravely streaming

The rockets bright  red light, and the bombs breaking in air

Showed through the night that are flag was still there

Does the star covered flag wave

Over the land of the free and the home of the brave

We create symbols to remember something that happened either in your life or in history. We create symbols to remeber certain events or people in our lives. We also create symbols to show if something is safe or not like if you see a skull and crossbones on something that can mean its poisonous. People also need symbols to read maps. A star on a map normally means its the capitol of that state. The American Flag would be considered a symbol because some people may think its a symbol of freedom like I do.  For me, the American Flag symbolizes freedom and shows that are country fought for what we believed in.

One thing I love to do is play sports like softball. Softball is my main passion and I love it. I would like to try to play a sport that ive never done or maybe even do something  like hang gliding. I think it would be really cool to try it one day. I went to Florida and went to Disney and there is a ride there thats like hang gliding and it looks really cool. Another sport I would like to try to play is lacrosse. My friend plays lacrosse and it sounds like a fun sport. I’d probaly only go hang gliding once but I would try to play lacrosse on a normal basis like I do with softball. Learning how to play a different sport other than softball would be fun because I would have to learn how to do a whole new sport and learn how to play it.

Well i dont know if you would consider this as a quote but my favorite quote is “Life is too short.” I like this quote because its true, life is to short. It tells me to live life to the fullest and take chances because you might never get to take that chance again. Live life the best you can live it!

My definition of a hero is someone you look up to, someone whos brave, and someone who is caring. A hero can really be whoever you want it to be.  Someone that I think is a hero today is my mom. I think shes a hero because I look up to her and she is very caring.

My favorite vacation i went on was to Cananda. I went with my parents and grandparents. We went for a week and we went ot see Niagra Falls. It was so pretty. We went on a boat ride that went really clothes to the falls. We had to wear blue ponchos so we wouldnt get soaked. We also got to go under the falls by going through this tunnel that took you under them. At night they would do fireworks from the boats by the falls and the falls would light up all different colors. It was really fun!

Fall and Winter are very different. In the fall all the leaves on the trees change colors and fall off the tree at one point.  In the winter there is no leaves on the trees and theres snow on the ground! I dont really like the fall because every year when the leaves change I get sick. I dont really like the winter either because its cold and its hard for me to breath in the cold air but I do like seeing everything white and fluffy.
