English and Immigrants

May 24, 2010

A question that probably everyone is wondering about immigrants is should they know how to speak English? I think yes, they should know how to speak English. If immigrants don’t know how to speak English, there could be some problems. People wouldn’t understand each other, and wouldn’t be able to help each other, and they wouldn’t be able to talk to one another. For instance, what if a non- English speaking immigrant asked an English speaking person a question?  How would the English speaker understand them? If immigrants could speak English, then they would be able to communicate better, and could live better lives in their new country. If all immigrants knew English, then we could all talk and help each other out!
