Lessons Learned!

Posted in Uncategorized on January 28th, 2010 and

Everything happens for a reason, and you learn from every mistake. You have to learn whats worth fighting for and when you do you will later understand why you needed to. One relationship is with my sister, when we were little we never really got along with eachother that well. We never truly hated eachother but we weren’t to fond of being sisters. As we grew up and more problems and situations came along we started looking to eachother for advice or even just a hug to make everything better. My sister is four years older than me and I never thought we could relate to eachother, we have had our fights and even some huge screaming matches but in the end we always ended up saying sorry no matter how many days it took for one of us to apoloigize. You never know what problem or situation is going to come along and when it does your going to need someone to lean on. My friends are always there and all but a sister is a forever friend that connects you to your childhood. The lesson I learned is that no matter how much you thought you wouldn’t get along, in the end you might be closer than you ever thought. Never doubt anyone because they become one of the closest people you have in your life. Always forgive never forget :)

what the american flag means to you

For homework I was assigned to ask fifteen people from 3 different generations what the American flag means to them. Above is a collage of all the responses I got from those fifteen people. The bigger the word, the more times it occurred in my assignment!

Star Spangled Banner :)

Posted in Uncategorized on January 13th, 2010 and

In this post I will be translating the first verse of the Star Spangled Banner our national anthem. During the movie today I learned how we got this song as our national anthem and it was a big surprise. Our country did not just pick this sound out of no where, it was written by a man named Francis Scott Key who was stuck on his boat to watch the war of 1812. All of what he described is what he watched in action. Here is my translation of the Star Spangled Banner.

Can you see the early light?
We welcomed the last sun shining
Big Striped and shiny stars through a dangerous fight
Over the mountains we watched, bravely flowing
Rockets lit up the night sky, bombs blowing up in air
Showed us that our flag was still up
Does the American flag still wave?
The country of freedom and the place of lots of people who are not afraid.

Who said that the white house has been there since president Washington?

Posted in Uncategorized on January 12th, 2010 and

On August 24,1812 the British took over Washington DC during the War of 1812. They say that the reason that the British did this was to get back at the Americans for burning the parliment building in York, Canada. Although both buildings were not completley burned down much of what was inside was destroyed. When the library of congress was destroyed Thomas Jefferson sold all of his possesions to be put in there to refull the empty Library of Congress. After taking all the prised possesions and all the jewlery that was worth a lot they ate all the presidents food that was perfectly set on the table. They destroyed the white house and made sure they kept adding fuel so it would burn all through the night.  The British not only burnt the white house and all the surrounding buildings they would have continued  until they seeked victory until the huge storm came and help out the Americans. Unless I watched the movie of “War Of 1812″ I would have never known this.

What Do Certain Things Mean To You?

peaceee

In class we were talking about symbols and what certain things mean to each one of us. I think a symbol is something that is made when you have had memories. Like when you have a sleepover with your best friends and you take pictures those pictures represent the great night you had with your friends. We create these symbols becaue an event has happened and that you will always want to remember it so you make a symbol so you can never forget. We need symbols because you need things to remind you of your past and what has happened in your life (your history). An example of this is the American Flag when we look at the flag it reminds us of The United States’ history. The American Flag would be considered a symbol because each thing represents something that has happened in our past such as the stars represent each state that has joined the union.

New Year, New Me :)

softball

It it finally 2010 which means a new year and a new me! A passion I have is softball, not only do I love the game, I love the people I play it with. I have been playing since I was in the 3rd grade! Ever since than every spring I know it is softball season. I love it because it keeps me active and I also get to be with my friends and make new ones. I find time to do it because I know every Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday I have a game or a practice. So I know that I can not make plans for those days and also I keep my grades up by doing my homework before that night when I have a game so I don’t have to worry about it. I see softball in my future because I plan on playing for many more years.

My Hero

Posted in Uncategorized on December 21st, 2009 and

I did Abraham Lincoln as my 19th century hero for many reasons including how brave he was and how he stuck up for what he believed in no matter what anyone else thought. He should be an inspiration for anyone who wants to make a difference in this world. If  I had to choose a hero for today it would be Taylor Swift, although she doesn’t have anything to do with world peace or even changing something in the world but she does set a great example for girls. While most celebrates are out partying she is the one who you will never see anything bad in the tabloids about.

When Is it Necessary To Fight?

Posted in Uncategorized on December 21st, 2009 and

I think it is necessary to fight when you are sticking up for something you belive in. When something is bothering you, you should be able to fight for what you think is right. I dont think it is necessary to fight over stupid things such as if you borrow your sisters clothing without asking. When you are sticking up for something important such as world peace or even an arguement with your parents for being out to late. To me it is important when you have a legitiment reason for the arguement and not to just fight. And even sometimes when you think it is worth fighting you should just back down so you don’t loose something you love or someone you love. To me it is difficult to pick when I should fight with someone or not, most of the time I try not to but if it is still bothering me after a little while than I try and come to conclusion without fighting, it is one of the hardest things to do.

Favorite Quote :)

Posted in Uncategorized on December 21st, 2009 and

“To me, Fearless is not the absense of fear. It’s not being completely unafraid. To me, Fearless is having fears. Fearless is having doubts. Lots of them. To me, Fearless is living in spite of those things that scare you to death.” – Taylor Swift

This is one of my favorite quotes ever, to me it is basically saying you don’t have to be perfect and have no fears or doubts, its living your life even though you have them. Its also saying the fearless people are not the ones who pretend they are strong and there is nothing wrong, the fearless people are the ones who understand their fears and know why they have them but instead of living their life without the chance to get over them they live their live and try and do something about it. So even if you do have a doubt that something is going to go wrong, just remember you still have to live your life and move on.
