The Star Spangled Banner????….not everyone thinks of what it actually means or how it was written or who wrote it. Well, Francis Scott Key wrote the song during the war of 1812 and it is now known as the Star Spangled Banner..
Oh, say, can you see, by the dawn’s early light,
What so proudly we hail’d at the twilight’s last gleaming?
Whose broad stripes and bright stars, thro’ the perilous fight,
O’er the ramparts we watch’d, were so gallantly streaming?
And the rockets’ red glare, the bombs bursting in air,
Gave proof thro’ the night that our flag was still there.
O say, does that star-spangled banner yet wave
O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave?
Now, most people don’t know what the Star Splangled Banner actually means so I am going to translate it into words that anyone can understand.
Oh, say, can you see, by the dawn’s early light,
Can you see the first apperance of daylight in the morning
What so proudly we hail’d at the twilight’s last gleaming?
We were proud to greet the light from the sky when the sun is below the horizon and the last flash of light
Whose broad stripes and bright stars, thro’ the perilous fight,
The bright stripes and bright stars on the flag you can see through the dangerous fight
O’er the ramparts we watch’d, were so gallantly streaming?
Over the mounds of Earth as we watched, we were so brave at the act of instance?
And the rockets’ red glare, the bombs bursting in air,
and the exploding items red bright light the explosives breaking in the air
Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there.
Gave evidence through the dark part of the day that our symbol of the nation was still there
Oh, say does that star-spangled banner yet wave
Oh say does that star decorated sign wave
O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave?
Over the land of the free and the place to stay for the strong ?
