My textbook had a good amount of informations on Tecumseh.  The textbook focused on very key points and didn’t really explain it a lot.

FACTS I WOULD HAVE ADDED: 

In 1786 the Kentucky Miltia destoryed Tecumseh’s village.

 Tecumseh did not go to the signing of the Treaty of Greenville in 1795, because some American Indains signed over the land to the United States.

Tecumseh spent  years traveling to the northwestern tribes, trying to unite  against the Americans.

Shortly after the begin of The War Of 1812 , Tecumseh joined the British Force.  

Years later Tecumseh died in Battle in 1813. 

If I was the editor of this book, I would definelty add these facts. I would make it more kid-friendly by adding more pictures and bullets instead of paragrapghs because that makes it easier for kids to read.

A person of the 19th century is Mary Ann Shad Cary. She was born October 8th 1823 and died June 5th 1893.  She lived in Delaware, was a free (meaning she wasn’t a slave) but lived in a slave state. Mary Ann worked as a teacher and journalist.  She  was a  lawyer and women’s right activist as well! What is cool is that she was the second African American women to graduate from law school. Education in Delaware for blacks was illegal so her parents sent her to Quaker  school in Pennsylvania.  The schools she attended were Quaker  Boarding School and Howard University B.A Law.  She was married and had kids. Her husband was Thomas Cary and she had one kid, Sally Cary. Later in life, she moved to Ontario and became a teacher. She also spoke out about segregation. She had a fulfilled life, and she did help out some to stop segregation.

Do great leaders make history? Or does history make  great leaders?

       I think a good leader was Rosa Parks, she was a great women who made a huge difference in the world. Rosa Parks was persistent,  and courageous and respectful. She was persistent by never giving up on what she believed in. She didn’t move out of that seat because she wanted change, and was going to get it. Courageous describes her because she put herself in a dangerous situation and you need to be strong to do that and she was. Also she was respectful. As she protested moving to the back of the bus, she didn’t cause commotion, she wasn’t rude or violent. She did it with class, and that’s why we all respect her now.

I believe Rosa Parks was a fantastic leader. She led alot of people to begin non-segregated buses. And that evolved into more!

Thomas Jefferson is a well known person right? Wouldn’t it be cool to own something of his? I think it is.  In class we had to make up a story about a significant object of a topic. My groups topic was THE REPUBLICAN VICTORY.  We made a story that said we have a quill pen that Thomas Jefferson owned during the Republican Victory.  I don’t really have this feather pen, but that would be very very cool!

I think it was hard to think of an object based on your topic, and do revole a story around that object.

What I liked about it, is that we get to sell it and donate the money! I really hope people believe our stories! (:

A problem I had was that all our group memeber had different ideas and it was hard to plot them all together in a story.

I hope my teacher does this for future classes because its for a good cause and it was fun!

What characteristics does a good leader have?-Leaders have to be strong, brave, generous, honest, reliable, trustworthy and responsible.
Are leaders made?  or born? Made, you have to earn your respect as a leader, and gain peoples trust to have you be “in control”
Describe a time when you were a leader. Well I feel like a leader when I’m around little kids or inexperienced kids in a place where I’m experienced. I feel like they look up to me for guidance for something.
Describe a time when you followed a leader. I followed a leader in a few places.  School and Home. My parents are my leaders at home, they possess all the qualities of a good and leader, and same with school. At school I have to say, the teachers are my leaders.
Can anyone be a leader? I think so. You have to want it, and never give up to achieve being a leader.

Are you a leader? I think in some situation, i have those “leader qualities”. But everyday I’m a leader to myself. I have to be brave, responsible, generous, reliable, (etc)
What are you strongest abilities as a leader? I am a very reliable person, if you need me, i will be there. I am also very responsible and I am trustworthy.
If you don’t consider yourself a leader, what is standing in the way? I do consider myself a leader but if something was standing in my way it would  be fear. I would be afraid of doing something the wrong way or badly.

In 2oo7, I went to Playa del Carmen Mexico! Its right outside of Cancun.  It was one of the nicest places ever. The beaches are beautiful and warm, they’re is an area of shops for tourists and its just amazing! My moms cousin had her wedding there so the whole family went down to Playa Del Carmen.  It was a great experience because they got us doing a whole bunch of activities relating to the Mexican culture.  After the beach wedding, which was very nice, we parading through the streets to get to our reception restaurant, It was at a Spanish restaurant, and that sombrero was my place setting at the table. That hat is important because when i look at it it brings me back to the fantastic times I had there, It was a family vacation, learning experience and just a great time, I will always have those memories looking at that sombrero and that’s important to me!

January 4th 2011. This day represent 2 years of being a vegetarian!   I am really proud of myself for doing this  and really trying not to eat meat. In the beginning it was very tough to do, but now I don’t want meat at all.  I became a vegetarian because my sister is one and she showed me a video about animal cruelty. It really hurt to see the way animals treated because it was horrible!  Me becoming a vegetarian means i save alot of animals, 200 on January 4th. 100 animals a year on average!

I am really happy I stuck with it and made it this long, i am going to continue (:

In 1794 Congress decided they needed  Navy and passed the Naval Act of 1794.  This act funded the money for six ships.   One of the first ships was the USS United States.  The USS United States was 174 ft long and went 13.5 knots.(About 15 miles per hour!) It was a  44-gun Frigate, built in Philadelphia and launched on May 10, 1797. This ship had a poop deck and a round house on its stern.

A present day Navy ship is the USS Boone. It is around 400-460 ft! They now go about 29 or more knots(33 mph or more) Present day ships have changed in a few way. Now they have more weapons and missionary, and alot more crew members. They have kept a few things, but improved basic needs such as size and speed. A similarity is that both the old and new ships transported goods all around the world to foreign places!

What would happen if you were faced with a second chance to do something you regret doing, or you did in the past you weren’t proud of. Would you take the chance?

I would. Some things I want the opportunity back to re-do it. I would take the second chance to  lets just say…ride a roller coaster that looked fun that I didn’t the first time I encountered it But most importantly I would take the second chance to really absorb the stories and lessons my sixth grade teacher told us. They were great things to listen to but I wished I had  listened closer and paid more attention. I don’t want to have to regret anything I do this year so I’m going to try to take in all the lessons or interesting things I learn this year. I’m not saying that I don’t want to make mistakes but I don’t want to miss experiences that I may not get back.
