Andrew Jackson

Posted in Uncategorized on February 24, 2010 by philg

I would vote for Andrew Jackson because he doesn’t listen to the voices of the people. I think that is good because then he won’t have to hear every thing from people that aren’t voting for him and he can concentrate on the campaign. Even though Jackson had the most popular votes he didn’t have enough electoral votes to automatically win the election amd it was up to the HOuse of Representatives.

Jackson had the most popular votes with 152,901 and 99 electoral votes. meanwhile John Quincy Adams had 11,023 popular votes and 84 electoral votes. Crawford came in third and Clay came in fourth following all of them.  Since none received 50% of the electoral votes, under the 12th amendment the House of Representatives had to vote for the president. Since Clay came in fourth he couldn’t be part of the election.

I would vote for ANdrew Jackson because he didn’t want to run for president and since a Tennessee legislature nominated him for presidency and for the Senate again he stuck with it. I like how Jackson stuck with the election because that meant he was strong and wanted to change something.

Friendship

Posted in Uncategorized on January 28, 2010 by philg

If you are really good friends with someone then you will probably be friends for a very long time. If you have a friend that you keep fighting with then the odds of you and your friend staying together won’t be to good. Usually if you are good friends with someone then you will stay in the friendship for a long time, but once in a while if you are friends for a long time then your friendship could end and you can never see or talk to them ever again.

Brigadier General

Posted in Uncategorized on January 12, 2010 by philg

William H. Winder was an American soldier.Winder was comissioned as a colonel in the U.S. Army when the war of 1812 began. WIlliam was later promoted to brigadier general. A brigadier general is a one star general officer. Bridagier general is a higher rank than colonel but is lower than a major general. The next year William WInder became commander of the defenses of Washington and Baltimore by president James Madison. Winder met the British at the Battle of Bladensburg with thousands of milatia on August 24, 1814. Later on, WIlliam WInders’ son, John H. Winder, became a brigadier general.

Symbols should be created after major events that take place, or for heroic acts that took place. Symbols are created because people want to remember what happened or of the event that occurred. People need symbols because if there were no symbols no one would remember what happened that was so great. The American Flag would be considered a symbol because it was made to remind other countries that our country is strong. The American Flag symbolizes 50 states in the US.

Sports is My Passion

Posted in Uncategorized on January 5, 2010 by philg

I love to play baseball and basketball or sports in general. This year I want to try to hit a homerun on a 90 foot diamond. I get exictied about baseball or basketball because when I play I can score baskets or get people out while I play baseball. Last year for baseball I made the allstar team even though it was my first year in a new league. I like to play baseball and basketball because when I’m at my house I can play homerun derby or have a one on one game against my friend. When I’m older I want to go to college to play baseball. When I get bored I go outside and either pick up a basketball and shoot or do dripple moves to help me in a game.Sometimes I even go outside and have a pass with my friend or my Dad, and I also practice hitting on a hit-a-way. Baseball and basketball are fun because while I play I can hang out with my friends.

This week our state had about 8 inches of snow. You can see that I have snow on my blog because I was waiting for a long time for a big snow storm and it finally came 2 days ago. Now that there is snow outside I can go out and sled but sice the snow is powdery I can’t make snowballs which meas I can’t have a snowball fight with my friends.

M y favorite quote is “I’ve missed more than 9,000 shots in my career. I’ve lost almost 300 games. 26 times, I’ve been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I’ve failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed.” this quote is by Michael Jordan.
