What makes a leader? A leader is a person who does not need anyone else. They can live on there own without any one’s help. They can make important decision for the better of the group or just themselves. I believe leaders can not be made. I think they are born that way because you need certain qualities and characteristics to be a leader. It is in their nature. The qualities necessary for leadership are part of their personality. I remember when I acted like a leader when me and my friends were biking in really big woods. We were trying to find our way back and we were kind of lost. I was the only one to remember how we got there and I lead the way out. During this crisis, I remained calm and helped to keep the other guys calm. I remained confident that I remembered the way out and would get everyone to safety. I think I was a leader in this situation because I made the decisions and everybody followed and listened to me. They listened because they could sense my confidence and calmness. An example of me following a leader is when Iwent to the Trail of Terror with some of my friends. They had gone before. This was my first time. They lead me through the paths. At that time, I did not feel confident because I did not know what to expect and I did not know the trail. I think anyone could be a leader. At any point or time, they just need to stick up for themselves, and what they believe. In times of need, they need to remain calm and confident. I don’t really think of myself as a leader because usually I don’t make the important decisions or lead the way because I am very shy and people who are shy usually aren’t leaders. It is only when I am with people that know me well that my leadership abilities come out. This is why I feel leaders are born not made.
