The early life of Andrew Jackson was very difficult. I think it impacted his future because it made him a stronger person. During the Revolutionary War, Andrews brother Robert enlisted and was shipped off to be a soldier. Soon after that Andrew decided he wanted to be a soldier, too. They eventually were both captured by the British soldiers in 1781. Both men got small pox, Robert died after they were released from prison. After Robert died, Andrews mother fell ill, too, and soon after she passed away. Andrew was an orphan at the age of 15.

He began teaching at schools a little, and then read law in North Carolina. Jackson accepted the offer to serve as public prosecter in Mero district. After arriving in 1788, Jackson built a legal practice, traded ventures, and aquired land and slaves.

Andrew met Rachel Donelson Robards, she was still married to her husband, but, Andrew and Rachel began living as man and wife. After Robards declared the divorce , her and Andrew were formally married in 1794. After this happened, people of the community started accusing Jackson as a wife-stealer.

Many people still liked Jackson, though. When he decided he wanted to be President, he had the majority of the votes. Everyone voted for him, but, he ended up not winning the election. When he tried a few years later, more people voted for him, and this time, he became the President.

…I think with all the things that happened to Jackson made him a stronger person. With him going to the war and all of his family dying when he was just a kid made him able to bear big problems. I think the more things happen to you in life, the more you have to step forward and get through things. Thats what Andrew had to do, and through out his life he had to overcome the toughest obstacles. I think what happened to him in his early life made him ready to be President, and was kind of ironic. It’s like the most famous people out there have horrible childhood lives, but in the end, those tough times make you ready for the future.

This is the website that explains all about Andrew Jackson’s life:

After learning about the war of 1812, I looked at the lyrics of the Star Spangled Banner. I analyzed them, and tried to see if it was relevant to the war that took place.

Oh, say, can you see, by the dawn’s early light,
What so proudly we hailed at the twilight’s last gleaming?
Whose broad stripes and bright stars, thru the perilous fight,
O’er the ramparts we watched, were so gallantly streaming?
And the rockets’ red glare, the bombs bursting in air,
Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there.
O say, does that star-spangled banner yet wave
O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave?

I think this song is historically accurate because America was so proud that they won, and after all that fighting, the American Flag was still there.

In my own words, the Star Spangled Banner means,

Can you see from the mornings light? We proudly worshiped the flag the night America took victory. It’s stripes and bright stars made it through the unbareable fight. As all of America watched as we won, the brave men who fought were so proud. Seeing all the gun fire and explosions, gave proof that our flag was still there. Is that banner still here? In the home of the brave?

This website includes the full song of the Star Spangled Banner

From the beginning of 1812, The Britains and Americans began a war. They went back and forth killing eachother. Most victories were made by the British, and were continuing that streak. In 1814, after chasing the Americans back to Washington, they burned down the state capitol and the white house. Dolly Madison was the wife of the President, James Madison. She was born on May 20th, 1768 in Guilford County, North Carolina. When her husband was off in the war, she took care of her younger sister Anna. In 1814, Dolly recieved news from her husband that the British were making there way to Washington. Before she avacuated the house, she grabbed the picture of George Washington, broke it out of the frame, and brought it with her out of the house. Dolly Madison died on July 12th, 1849 at her home in Washington D.C. The legend of Dolly will live on forever, we will remember what she has done. She risked her life to save a portrait.

We create symbols when something becomes important or extremely familiar to us. Like the American Flag, the sports team signs, like the Boston Red Sox, or the New York Yankees. We create symbols because we need to warn people and inform people. We warn people with the symbol that usually goes on poisonous substances. The symbol usually is cross bones and a skull. A symbol to inform people can be the recycling sign, that can be found on plastic bottles. If there wasn’t a sign on the bottom of plastic bottles or cans, how would we know that they can be recycled? We create symbols to inform us about anything harmful or helpful. Everybody needs symbols to see these things. The American Flag would be considered a symbol. Every time someone looks at the flag, we think straight to the United States of America. A symbol is something that represents a person, place, or thing. This item is the biggest symbol in America. When we see it, we think of the President, the White House, patriotism, the war with our troops in them. The flag just represents America. We need symbolism, it’s quicker than words. It can inform us faster than anything. Symbols are one of the most important pictures in our country.

I really enjoy to play volleyball, and all different sports. I like volleyball because you really need to interact with your teamates. Playing volleyball is fun, too. You need to pay attention and watch everybody thats on the court. You need strength to serve the ball, nothings better than a good serve. When I get into high school, I would like to try out for the girls volleyball team. I think it would be really fun to be a part of, and also its a good thing because it would be school spirit. I hope to be a part of the team, someday. So in the meantime, I join volleyball teams through the town, or I just practice with friends. I really hope to make the team, and I will do all that I can to prepare for it. Volleyball is my passion.

Every year my grandparents rent out a time share in Newport. My family and I stay there for .. 2 days. I love it there because theres so much activity, and everything is close together that you could walk anywhere. Theres a lot of boats, and every time I have gone theres been a cruise shipp… Me and my brother like to mess with the pirates that stand outside of the stores.. (:

Newport is honestly the best place in the world. The second I graduate I will be moving to Newport.

Hero: Someone who does things for people without wanting anything in return. Someone who is strong minded, physically and mentally.

I don’t have a specific hero, but firefighters, police men, the soldiers in the war are my heroes. Each and every one of them does things for the love of the country, or their town, their family and friends. Firefighters don’t sign up to be burned in a fire for money. They sign up because they want to be a firefighter. They go to school and learn. They do it because they want to. So they can help people, not for money. Same with police men, and for soldiers, its even more extreme. But most of these people do the jobs they have because they want to help people, not for the money. So they are my heroes.

Every student should be able to have a say in class. We should all be able to vote, or make a decision of what we are doing.

Each student should be able to what they want to….(school related, of course.) Like when we do our homework… they should be able to do it the way they think is the easiest. Or the way we take notes.
