This is a post I am writing for our Andrew Jakcson unit in school.

Good evning and thank you for coming we must discuss the issue at hand about the Indians in the  country. What we must do is make a deal with them so there is no more conflict. There are a few things we ust focus on. First we will make it so that they cannot live in our towns and cities. Doing this will make it so that they won’t bother us and they can live in thier own areas and do whatever pleases them. This may cause Indians to loose numbers and maybe come and live with us and take up our culture and language. Farms, forests, and other land wil be preserved. The Indians are attached more to thire home than the christian life. Thank you for your time and we will see what congress thinks of this idea.

I have a a friend that I have known since 3rd grade but we really became friends in 4th grade. We were usually doing things with other friends but one day it was just us and we had a good imagination and we were pretending that we were Roman, Greek, or Egyptian soldiers. We wanted to know more about them so we started taking out books on ancient history.We even got a computer game where we commanded ancient armies and led campaigns around ancient Europe, Northern Africa, and Western Asia. This was our thing for a while and it was a fun thing for us to do. I don’t really remember how but my friend started showing me some things on the civil war like books and other things. There was also a strategy game for the Civil war but it was only focusing on one battle which was Gettysburg. This is really when I started getting into the civil war and the history about it and I learned a lot and I continued to learn about it through 5th grade. When I came into middle school I didn’t really do much with it and kinda got out it but the same friend got me back into it because him and his dad joined a reenactment group and I really enjoy learning about this subject. He has effected my life greatly becase if I never played with him that day I would have never started liking history or started learning about it. He has really effected my life and hopefully I will continue to be friends with him for the rest of my life.

My teacher had our class ask 15 people what the american flag symbolized to us and this picture is all the words that are symbolized by the american flag

Have you ever wondered what you are saying while singing the Star-Spangled Banner? Well the first thing that you should know was that the Star-Spangled banner was written by Francis Scott Key after the intense battle of Ft. McHenry and it was at first a poem.
Here’s the original version:
Oh, say, can you see, by the dawn’s early light,
What so proudly we hailed at the twilight’s last gleaming?
Whose broad stripes and bright stars, thru the perilous fight,
O’er the ramparts we watched, were so gallantly streaming?
And the rockets’ red glare, the bombs bursting in air,
Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there.
O say, does that star-spangled banner yet wave
O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave?

What it is saying is:
can you see in the early morning light
We fought greatly at the last sight of the day
The flag flew  through the whole fight of ft. McHenry.
We watched over the fortifications, the flag bold and floating
The redness of the rockets’ glare, the explosions of the bombs in the night sky
This gave us proof that the flag was still flying through the night
What does the flag say about the battle
For the country of the free and the homes of the brave people.

When it comes to fighting wars you usually only think about what  it is about, where it took place and who’s fighting in it. Not many people think about the way they win battles and the strategies used to win battles. The war of 1812 was the forgotten war that we should learn more about. The weapons that were used in the war was the mustket and the most commonly used one was the brown bess. Bayonets, knives, cannons, swords and sometimes even their bare hands were used. Men fought and died using these weapons and they should be given our respect and we should take some time to learn about the them.  Strategies were another important part of this war and all other wars. Some of the strategies used were to attack the flanks to make the enemy line vulnerable to attack. They would also cut off enemy resources in an attempt to make the enemy withdraw. You can’t be given victory but you can be given the tools and strategies to achieve it.

Symbols are anywhere and everywhere. We see them everyday and even though you may not know it they effect your lives greatly. They are created when we need something to be represented. We create them because a symbol has more meaning than words. The American flag can be considered a sybol becase it symbolizes our counrty’s right to freedom and the union between the states and the rest of the nation along with the history of the country. The stars on the flag symbolizes the 50 states. The 13 stripes symbolize the original 13 Colonies.

One of my passions is history. I have never really been to any historical places that I’ve learned about and I would love to visit some of these places like Gettysburg, the Alamo, and other famous places. When I first start reading about histoical events and it interests me then I find out more things about it like what it was about, who was involved, and what made those people do what they did. It interests me greatly because history is what our ancestors and forefathers left behind for us to find out. I would like to become a U.S. History teacher with the knowledge I have and the knowledge I can learn in the future. The thig that holds me back is that not many people in my age group like history and can find it boring. I beleive we should take time to remember what our ancestors have done for us to make our country the way it is today with so much freedom.

Some of the blogs I visited talked about world war 2 which interests me because it changed our nation and others as well. I also just enjoy history because I like to know about what others have left for us to learn.

Most of the blogs I visited talked about what they liked to do, what they like to learn about, or things they have done. Some of the thing they talked about I like as well like space and word war 2.

What do you think when you think of the end of the world? When I think of the end of the world I think of a giant meteor hitting earth, the yellowstone super volcano erupting and massive tidal waves. I also think if this wasn’t to happen then something spiritual will happen or something will dramatically change in the world. I think a sign of the end of the world will be a red sky.
