I have learned so many things in a short amount of time that I will always remember. I hope that all of the students in this class enjoy it as much as I did. I didn’t just learn about U.S. History, I learned how to step up and be a leader. I also learned how to be more confident in myself. This class prepared me for high school in so many ways and I cannot thank him enough. I thought I would wright this to all of current students and wish you luck in the upcoming year. To be honest, I’m pretty jealous that you are able to be in his class this year.(: I’m very thankful for everything that I have learned in that classroom, have fun!!

I believe that great leaders make history because a person that takes charge and does something so memorable, can change history. For example, George Washington. He lead his troops to an impossible victory. When Washington crossed the Delaware River and defeated the Hessians, many people were surprised. Almost everybody thought it was the impossible, but Washington thought otherwise. If he failed to cross the river and didn’t conquer the Hessians, it wouldn’t be such great and memorable history. Since he was a great leader and was successful with such a difficult journey, he made great history. History didn’t make him.

To be a leader you have to be kind to others, brave, you have to know what you are doing, and you have to be able to listen to other people’s ideas. Being brave to me is the most important characteristic a leader must show. You have to be willing to lead others in the right direction. Anybody can be a leader if you work at it. You just have to know what you are doing and how to tell others what to do. A time that I was a leader was when I was in sixth grade and we had to do a group project. It was me and one of my friends and I decided what each of us would do to contribute to the project. I am follower whenever I feel like I need help or when I don’t know what to do. I don’t consider myself a leader because I always feel like I will mess something up and people will blame me if something bad happens. Also, I am not outgoing unless I am with my friends, so it’s hard for me to tell people what to do.

Personally, the significant object project was my favorite project in social studies this year. It was an easy way to learn about a piece of history. This project will also help me remember an event in history because it is nothing like I’ve ever done before. Over all this project was fairly easy. The hardest part was figuring out how to make an event from history personal. Once our group found some interesting facts about the event, we started naming some objects that would be easy to get and that would be original. It took us some time, but we finally got the perfect item.

This project taught me that if I find something interesting about a topic, it will stick with me for a very long time. If I am doing a project in another subject and I am having a hard time remembering something, I can try to connect it to something original so it is easier to remember and understand. I think that you should continue to do this project in the future years. It’s a project like no other.

A significant object is something that is special to you but is useless to others. Everybody has there own object that is special to them because of the story behind the object. I have many significant objects, but there is one that is extra special. It just happens to be my good luck charm too. My special object is a metal moose no bigger than a nickel. Let me tell you what an impact this moose has made in my life.

When I first entered kindergarten, everything was just perfect. I was healthy and had friends. As the days went on, my parents noticed something wasn’t right. When I was taken to the doctors, we found out that I had a tumor in my jaw. The word had spread and when we contacted my church and told them the news. When my pre-school teacher found out, she wanted to give me something special. (I should probably tell you that I went to pre-school at my church.) A couple days before my surgery, she gave me something that changed my life. She handed me a white teddy bear and a little, metal moose. She told me that this moose would bring me good luck when I go into surgery. Plus it was easy for me to carry around. So within the second week of kindergarten, my parents took me and my lucky moose to the hospital and it was go time. Right before I went into surgery, I touched my lucky moose and everything turned out okay. Since then I have brought my lucky moose with me to all 7 of my surgeries for comfort.

Today is just another summer day of 2011. This afternoon I have been doing a lot of thinking. I am realizing how much I miss seeing all of my friends in school. They always make me laugh and know how to have a good time when we are together. I am thinking about how much middle school has changed me. I have grown since the first day of sixth grade to the last day of eighth grade. There were many ups and downs. I have made many close friends and even lost a couple. I have managed to keep good grades throughout these past three years. There are so many memories that I will keep forever. Okay, I have done enough talking. I am going to go have some fun with my friends at the beach.

The USS Constellation was from the Navel Act of 1794. It was a war ship with a single gun deck that could carry up to 18 guns. It was the second US ship to carry the name of the USS Constellation. It was launched on August 26, 1854. The USS Enterprise is a ship that carries aircraft. This ship was the world’s first nuclear-powered aircraft carrier. It is nick named the “Big E”.

If not, click here. This is a story about George Washington as a little boy. As the story goes, he cut down his father’s tree with his little hatchet when his father was away. When his father came back, George Washington was honest and told his father that he cut it down himself. His father wasn’t mad because little George told the truth. People may have used this story to learn how honest George Washington was. Honestly though, this story is false. It was written by Mason Locke Weems. He wrote this story so that people would know that George Washington was an honest man.

I was assigned to create the “best question in the world” and then answer it. It has to be creative and original. I have to wonder if it would change the world. So here it goes. The best question in the world that I created is below.

What would happen if I won a billion dollars?

Now, many people would ask the same question and most adults would think that kids would use it to buy toys for themselves. Well, I’m not the average kid. I am not a greedy kid. I don’t even know what I would want to get myself that is so expensive. Here is what I would do to change the world.

I would donate to third wold countries that aren’t as lucky as we are. They don’t have medical supplies like we do. Many people die of different kinds of illnesses. It breaks my heart to here about all of the babies that die every year because of hunger or because their family doesn’t have money to support them. I would make sure that I give before I take. Also, I would give money to children’s hospitals. I know what it’s like to spend a long period of time in the hospital so I would make sue that I make kids happy. I hope this would make a little difference in the world.
