Oh, say can you see by the dawn’s early light
(Seeing the light, war ending)
What so proudly we hailed at the twilight’s last gleaming?
(Celebrating the winning, big smiles on everyone faces)
Whose broad stripes and bright stars thru the perilous fight,
(The American Flag stayed up through whole fight)
O’er the ramparts we watched were so gallantly streaming?
( Being Protected)
And the rocket’s red glare, the bombs bursting in air,
( The weapons that are being used, the soldiers fighting)
Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there.
( That they have a chance of winning)
Oh, say does that star-spangled banner yet wave?
( Still waving today)
O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave?
( Being brave with fighting for freedom)
