Construction of the Constitution

by on Dec.13, 2010, under Uncategorized

I think that the Constitution should have strict construction, but not so strict that the federal government will be slaves and do exactly what the Constitution tells them to do.  The rules should be able to be bent, but only if necessary.  Thomas Jefferson believed that the Constitution should have strict construction, but on the other hand, Hamilton believed that it should have loose construction, which was the elastic clause.  I agree with Hamilton because if there was a flaw in the Constitution, it would force the government to screw up because they would have to do exactly what it said.  If it had loose construction, the government would realize if there was a flaw and change it so that they did not mess up.
